 Some Old and New Faces

Chapter 6

Axen's POV

Once I got to class I scanned the room for Aved hoping he had saved me a spot. Most people knew that we sat next to each other. I was hoping that Jereni and Arrow would be smart enough to stay the heck away from me. I didn't want to see either of them.

I saw Aved sitting at a table with a bunch of girls and ignored the sudden anger that I felt. It wasn't like we were really a thing and he could sit next to whoever he chose to. There was no reason for me to be angry at Aved for being attractive. I went to an empty table and sat down, ignoring the odd look that Aved shot me. It wasn't like I was going to force myself between him and the other girls. I saw Alexa come in the room and sit next to me.

"Are you and Aved okay? You guys usually sit together." she said glancing at Aved. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Lex, does it look like there is room for me at that table? I'm not going to start world war 3 to sit next to him." I said with a shrug.

"No, instead you'll start the second Cold War." she muttered.

Before I could retort Jayden walked into the room. When he saw the spot next to me was open he headed straight for it. I cursed under my breath and tried not to show my disgust openly. I didn't want to deal with him today. I just wanted one normal day without drama. Was that too much to ask for?

"Hey Axen, how are you doing?" Jayden asked leaning his shoulder against my arm. I leaned away and fought the urge to punch his stupid face.

"Can you get out of my personal bubble?" I responded icily, glancing at him and getting ready to pound on him. He knew how much I hated to be touched and the only person who got away with it was Aved and that was only after years of friendship.

"Alright, alright. Don't get your panties in a twist." he said sliding over in his chair so that he wasnt quite so in my personal bubble. I picked up my pencil and started fiddling with it, imagining stabbing Jayden in the face was helping curb some of my anger."You're rather hostile today aren't you Axen? Didn't get enough beauty sleep?"

"I will always be hostile towards you Jayden. Nothing will ever change that." I snapped at him before opening my note book to actually take notes and pay attention during class. I needed a good grade in this class to pass this year.

"We'll see about that. Before you know it this time next week you'll be mine." he said with utter confidence. I stared at him a moment, the tone of his voice and the sound of it tossed me back to my nightmare. I felt the blood leave my face and I steeled myself against the panic that flowed through me.

"What did you just say?" I asked feeling out of breath and absolutely terrified. "I think you're mistaken." I said before tuning him out. I didn't know what was wrong with me but Jayden telling me I was his made me feel like the lowest slime on the earth. There was no way in hell I was ever going to willingly date him.

When the bell finally rang and we were dismissed we all left the room. Aved followed me to my locker. "Is there a problem between us?" he asked, his blue eyes seeming troubled. I glanced at him and tossed my stuff in my locker before grabbing my books for my next class.

"No, there's no problem between us."

"Why didn't you sit next to me then?" he asked in a soft voice.

"Did you not see the girls surrounding you? I'm not going to fight my way through them to be by your side. I won't do it Aved." I said shutting my locker and walking toward my next class.
