They are hidden in our hist'ry books
in every nook
and every cranny
They shaped our world
so it's unfurled
for the present and our future
They bled and fought for us
but they disgust
and are very rarely valued
They died for a greater future
and hoped for better
times for their descendants
They worked for a legacy
to be hopeful memories
but they are from the past
So we learn
and then forget
about those who shaped our world
Someday we will learn
and then remember
those that saved our savage world
We live in a world where we judge our predecessors for having pointless prejudice, and then forget what they built and replace it with their flaws.
And this is how our descendants will view us.
