Rose woke up to the sound of pigeons behind her window, knocking their beaks and making noises. When she had opened her eyes, she felt odd. She wasn't upset but she wasn't happy either. It felt like something she was doing was right yet there was also regret. She got out her bed and did her daily morning routine. She looked in the mirror and for the first time in a while, her face was glowing. She smiled at the sight of herself, wore her favorite jeans and her favorite top. Sh took one last deep breathe and went downstairs. Her mom looked tired and her dad was smiling.Rose: Hey! What's for breakfast?
Rose sat at the dining table, her parents were speechless.
Mrs. Calisse: Well uh, I just made some pancakes actually.
Rose: Ooh sounds great, you know those are my favorites.
Mr Calisse: So you're going somewhere sweetheart?
Rose: Yeah actually, I wanted to head to the mall, just look around, maybe buy a couple things.
Mr Calisse: Sounds great, have fun love, I got to get to work.
After breakfast, Rose said goodbye to her mom and took off. The world was so colorful today. The skies were almost pink, the sun not too intense. She thought of taking a taxi to the mall but instead she thought she'd walk. It was close enough anyways and the weather was great. She took a deep breathe in and smelled the blooming flowers and took out her phone. She opened her snapchat and for the first time in ages, she turned on the front camera, smiled and took a selfie. She stared at herself for a few contemplating whether or not to post it and finally, she decided to post it followed by switching off her phone. No distractions. After a few minutes of letting her soul be at peace with the perfect summer wind, she reached the mall. Before entering, she reminded herself that she wouldn't freak out or anything and she was only here for good fun. She walked in.
The first few steps were as expected. Peaceful, comfortable and natural. Rose's plan was to go to her favorite stores first wheres she's most relaxed at, and then she'd go on to exploring. As she walked more and more towards her first stop, the heavy feeling in her chest from the diner came back. All of a sudden, she didn't feel comfortable and she thought the entire malls eyes were on her. "Maybe I'm walking weird?" "Maybe I look a bit off?" Rose had many thoughts spiraling her head but she wasn't going to fall flat today. She took her phone out, turned it on, plugged in her earphones and played her music. After a couple songs played, she felt calmer and breathed normally again. She walked into the book store, her favorite place to go. The scent of paper and creativity perfumed the air in the store making her mind feel at ease and serenity. She didn't exactly intent to buy anything, but just take in the energy and vibe flowing within the shop. After a good stroll and getting her mind to calm down, she left the book shop and continued walking.
Rose's next stop was a candle store. She didn't remember why or how she got obsessed with candle's, but the scents of different jars of candle wax just seemed so romantic to her. When she walked into the store, the scents of all the candles and various body lotions filled her nostrils and a mixture of emotions stirred within her. Some scents made her nostalgic, others made her more upset so she avoided those. After a good half an hour of just smelling candles, she put her mind on one certain French Vanilla scent that she bought for herself. When she left the store, her stomach grumbled and she knew exactly what she wanted.
The walk to the candy shop wasn't tough, it was her hunger and crave for the fresh pack of liquorice that drove her insane. When she got to the store, her nose could guide her to the exact location of the long, sweet candy. She picked up two bags, bought them and left, opening one up on the way. The rest of the day was spent with Rose just wondering around the mall, walking into different stores, trying on different outfits and just getting her mind unclogged. Her mom called her offering to pick her up and she accepted. When her mom came, she asked her about her day and what she got and Rose enthusiastically replied with a bright smile. For the first time, Rose's mom looked happy and relieved. When Rose got home, she lit her brand new candle, sat on her bed and plugged in her music. She took a look out her window, smiled and thanked her friend for telling her to go out.
