Cai's gone. I feel so lost.
It's the middle of the night, and I can't sleep because all I'm thinking about it is the invasion.
I sit and stare out the window, feeling like little Amelia Pond. The girl who Waited for the Doctor. And I am the girl who is waiting for an invasion that might kill earth; I'm in charge of stopping it. The rain starts pelting down outside and I pull on a coat, running out the house and slamming the door behind me.I run down my road, pulling my fur hood close to my ears as the cold, sharp droplets hit me hard. I open the car door and jump inside, sheltering myself from the dismal weather outside. My phone starts to ring.
"Hello, dad." I say, greeting my father whom I haven't seen for months.
"Alice. You need to get here. Now."
"What!?" I ask, scared.
"Someone's locked me in my house, I can't get out! And - something's happening - this rain isn't any old rain."
He hangs up; I shiver and start up the engine, accelerating at full speed down the motorway towards London.I'm so tired, I don't know if I can go any further, the sign says 6 miles, but it feels like 50 more.
Finally, I pull up outside my dads house and bang on the door. I remember he's locked in. My fingers feel for the screwdriver the doctor gave me. Smiling, I open the door with it and run up the stairs. My dad is lying on his bed in his pyjamas - at least I think he is...
I shake his body, trying to wake him up. He's unconscious! What did he say about the rain? I open the window and stick my head out, wherever the doctor is right now, the new one, I need him. But I didn't help him so he wouldn't help me. My doctor has given me this task - he thinks I'm capable, so I am.The rain feels hard even though it falls in small amounts.
I shine a torch outside and see that the rain is not wet!
They are small probes. The invasion has started. Here's the start of my breakthrough newspaper story!
I quickly take some pictures of the probes and safely tuck my phone back in my pocket. I examine my dad; my ex boyfriend was a doctor, come on why is he unconscious?
I see a small mark on my fathers shoulder and look next to him. There is a probe! I pick up the device and stare into it, trying to figure out who has invaded. Suddenly, a sharp point emerges from the device and my sight cuts out.
