"Maybe they're using it as a door stopper?" Edgar meowed as we walked around the whole house, looking for any trace of my book but there was no luck, nobody was around.
"Ugh!" I groaned as I continued to listen to my brother's continuous bantering for a whole hour as we continued searching aimlessly for my enchanted spell book.
"Or maybe they're ripping the pages out of it and are using the pages as confetti?"
"Edgar..."
"Or Maybe...They Set It On FIREEEEEEEEE!" The cat meowed, laughing but luckily he choked on one of his disgusting hair balls. Hopefully, it will help shut his big fat mouth before I tape it shut.
"One day cat, one day!" I glared as we made it outside. It felt like ages since I stepped out in the daylight before-his death. The sun felt nice on my pale skin and the green grass tickled my feet as I stepped on it. As a witch, your friends are the moon and the constellations in the night sky. Darkness was my best friend and the sun was just an acquaintance.
I remember sitting underneath one of my willow trees; just reading. All the kids would gather around and listen to a few lines from my poetry book and watch with curiosity as I perform a few spells or two for their amusement. The older kids would join along as well. Victor would hoot and holler and Enoch would watch with a straight face but at least I got him to smile at least a little... His smile was always my favorite thing about him but once Victor died, so did his smile, along with the rest of me.
"Nice to see you, Miss Caldwell." Miss Peregrine spoke, giving me a fright. I looked surprised at first when I saw her but I quickly smiled once she pulled me into a hug.
"How are you, Miss Peregrine?" I asked her as I took a second to admire her attire. It's been days since I've last seen her after Victor's death and after I locked myself in my room into seclusion for over 20 days and 1 month. And after seeing her today, she still looks fabulous with that wooden pipe in her mouth.
"Pretty good my dear. I've seen you've changed your attire since the last day I saw you." I gave her a nod with my head and smiled but I was ashamed it's been that long...
I was glad she noticed how short I've changed my hair along with my attire showing off my true witchy nature."Hey Miss Peregrine you wouldn't perhaps know where I misplaced my book?" I asked her. A grin rose around her cheeks and smoked her pipe with ease as she strolled me around the garden to pass the time.
"The children have it."
"What?!" I gasped.
"Don't worry Adelaide, your book is in safe hands." ...Yeah right... "And this will give you a perfect chance to socialize with the children." She smiled.
"Miss Peregrine as much as I would love to reminisce with the children, I have to...Feed My Cat!" I spurted out. I really didn't want to meet the children, don't get me wrong. Too many memories; it would just be too hard and I don't really feel like crying my eyes out in front of all of them.
"Nonsense! Everyone is just dying to see you."
