Background: Mi Yeon was born in Andong, South Korea to her loving parents and older brother. As she grew up, she realised the quaint town of Andong wasn't big enough to fulfill her needs and desires in life ; her parents wanted her to have a more academic career when Mi Yeon grew up, such as a lawyer or doctor, but that wasn't what Mi Yeon wanted. Mi Yeon got her first job in a museum when she was around 19 but got fired within the first month as she sang very loudly around the corridors, which is when her parents finally realised that Mi Yeon wanted to perform. They paid for her ticket to Seoul, and arranged for Mi Yeon to stay there with her aunt, so that Mi Yeon could audition for different companies and achieve her dreams.
