Every person in this world has their own predestined fate. A purpose to fulfill, a simple or struggle of a journey that must be traveled no matter what.
Aurora had always felt as though her journey would be much more different than others'. Perhaps more exciting, but surely scarier too. Normality was always somewhat missing in her life...always in the background, but never really there.
Growing up, she had no brothers or sisters. Her father died shortly after she was born, so it was always her and her mother Lillian in the picture. The absence of a dad led Aurora and Lillian to share a powerful bond not all mothers and daughters usually shared. Of course their ties to the supernatural world did have a part to play in their closeness...
The Wahine tribe was one of the first indigenous tribes in Northwest America, at the mouth of the Pacific Coast. Similar to the Quileute and Makah tribes, the Wahine tribe originally descended from wolves, thus making its members shape-shifting creatures, born to carry on the genetic traits and powers of the tribe as well as protect it from enemies like the Cold Ones.
What made the Wahine tribe different and far more superior than the other tribes, was the fact that the Wahine tribe, since its beginning, was always only made up of strong female shape-shifters who were naturally born Alphas. In every werewolf pack, the Alpha wolf is generally slightly larger in size, stronger and faster than the other pack wolves, and what made the women of the Wahine tribe particular was the fact that their wolves had the strength and speed of any pack leader coming from any tribe. Every woman automatically had the spirit of an alpha.
All this meant that, decade after decade, the Wahine pack only ever consisted of one wolf member at a time; the alpha, and she had power over any other werewolf from any other tribe, also including the Quileutes, until her daughter took her place, and then her daughter took her place, and so on.
For years, the Wahines, Quileutes and Makah tribes in Washington lived together in peace until a few decades back, during the time of Quileute chief and Alpha Ephriam Black , The Wahine pack travelled up north to Canada and the three tribes were separated. It was two generations later that the current Wahine Alpha, Lillian Wallace, moved back to Washington with her daughter.
It was beginning to get dark, and Aurora decided to go with the Cullens to their house to tell them her story, and why she reacted the way she did after seeing them in the forest. She wasn't quite sure if should trust them or not, but she figured that she did owe them an explanation since they did decide against killing her and Isla both.
She spent the remainder of the afternoon telling the Cullens about her family and its history. She was surprised to discover that the Cullens already knew so much about werewolves in general, and that they had made a pact of truce with the pack over in La Push.
"So wait, does this mean you're a werewolf?" Emmett furrowed his eyebrows. At this point everyone was in the living room, Aurora sitting on the Cullen's big white couch and the others standing or sitting around her, listening intently.
Aurora chuckled, the Cullens all had so many questions, it was like they forgot they weren't supernatural creatures themselves. "No, my mum is a werewolf. But I'm seventeen, which means that between now and the next couple of years, I should turn into one."
"And when that does happen, will you be joining Sam Uley's pack?" Carlisle questioned this time, his fingers on his chin. Clearly he seemed interested to learn more about where werewolves come from.
"Who?"
"You don't know about the mutts down at La Push?" Rosalie tilted her head in confusion.
"Oh, those guys. I only just got here from Canada a few weeks ago, didn't really have time to get to know anybody from La Push yet."
