Chapter Four

The first day of school passed by quickly. Aurora hadn't really expected to find a lot of excitement in the one and only high school of tiny Forks, but strangely enough, she had to admit that her new school was much more interesting than her previous one back in Canada.
This obviously had to do with how Forks High deviated from what is considered to be a 'normal' school, what with all the incredibly intimidating vampires and werewolves attending. Well, intimidating in the eyes of the entirely human population of the school, not Aurora herself.

In fact, she was grateful to find many familiar faces in all of her classes. She had most classes with a few of the guys from La Push; including Jacob, the cheerful boy whom Aurora had gotten along with the most out of all the other werewolves. It was extremely difficult, for example, for her to actually pay attention in Maths class, with Jacob making her hold back laughter from the ridiculously hilarious impressions of their stern teacher Ms. Murphy.

Most importantly, the Cullens also shared a lot of classes with Aurora, something she found both incredibly pleasant and distracting at the same time...

It seemed silly, almost wrong for her to be so intrigued by the vampires who had accidentally exposed themselves in front of her in the forest and still decided to spare her life afterwards, the same vampires who by nature were her enemies as a future werewolf (and alpha) herself.
However, as she walked out of the main entrance of the school on the way to her car in the parking lot, her curiosity and growing interest took the best of Aurora as she observed the Cullens who stood casually by their luxurious cars ahead of her.

There they were, in all their glory, five pale figures who seemed to belong in a Michelangelo sculpture museum rather than a gloomy school parking lot. Their distinct otherworldliness was marked by their marble-like skin, contrastingly dark circles under their eyes, a rich shade of gold.
Alice Cullen, sitting gracefully on the hood of her brother Emmett's bulky Jeep waved at Aurora and smiled widely, "Aurora! Over here!"

Edward gave Alice a warning look, not wanting her to scare Aurora off with her more-than-necessary enthusiastic nature. Not that it really mattered; much to Edward's surprise, Aurora approached him and his siblings without any sense of hesitation or intimidation, causing him to feel both utterly comforted and confused at the same time.

"So, what do you think of your new school? I didn't get the chance to ask you after class today..."
"It's not that bad for such a small school actually," Aurora grinned,

"Oh but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a struggle to stop myself from falling asleep in Biology with Mr. Anderson's monotonous voice."

Alice giggled, "Well we should be lab partners then, so I'll help you stay awake in case that happens."
At that point she hopped down from the car and embraced Aurora in a tight hug, "I know for sure that you and I are going to be great friends." Aurora chuckled shyly but hugged Alice back as Edward rolled his eyes at his sister, "It's better not to keep Aurora's other friends waiting, Alice," he gestured towards Jacob, Seth and Embry by Aurora's car with a hint of tension in his tone.

Aurora began to realise that the Cullens and the pack could barely stand each other.
"It's fine, I better get going though. I'll see you guys around." She looked at the other Cullens, and then at Edward, smiling softly before turning to leave. He soon realised that the simple motion made him want to run after her so he could see her smile again.

Before going home, Aurora decided to drop Jacob, Seth and Embry off at a shop close to her house, since Jacob's car was not working at the time and neither of them had a ride.

It was Jacob who brought the topic up in the car when he asked Aurora, "So...you and the Cullens, huh?" She took her eyes off the road to give him a skeptical look. "What?"
