"Are you sure you have everything for tomorrow?" Lillian asked Aurora as they waked out of the stationery, both carrying a few shopping bags.
It was Sunday, the day before school started and Lillian decided to spend the afternoon at the mall with her daughter so that she could buy her a few things for school, as well some new decorations for her room.
"Think so. Thanks for taking me, mum." Aurora smiled at her mother. She knew that between her work and taking care of the house (as well as being a werewolf) her mum was always on the go.
"Sure thing, honey. I guess we're all set to go to the beach then."
Aurora and Lillian jumped into the car and drove off to the beach in La Push, where they could officially meet the pack and their families over a barbecue and a bonfire.
"So are you nervous for school tomorrow?" "A bit, yeah. I mean it's a small town and everyone already knows each other, I'll still be the outcast even though it's the first day for everyone too." "Don't worry too much about fitting in, Aurora. You'll make new friends in no time." Lillian assured her daughter. Aurora knew her mother was probably right. She already knew Isla would stick around with her and, who knows, maybe she'll make some werewolf friends at the beach today.
The drive from forks to La Push took around twenty minutes, and as they were nearing the beach, Aurora could tell that the place was somewhat different than Forks as she stared casually from the car window.
There seemed to be more silence overall, probably due to the fact that there were less people in the streets. Rust-coloured trees lined the roads and surrounded the houses and, with the sun slowly beginning to descend in the background, the auburn colour was popping, almost as if to welcome Aurora in.
Once on the rocky beach, Aurora could see a group of people around her mother's age sitting on large logs, formed in a circle. Near them many others, most of them couples, were sprawled out on towels closer to the sea while, on the sandy part, a game of soccer was taking place. It was surprising to her to note that most of the people there had similar physical features; dark honey skin tones and midnight black hair. Most of all, many of the men (whom she automatically assumed were the werewolves considering their size) were more than 6 feet tall and had well-defined muscles from their shoulders and arms to their legs- some more than others.
"Billy? Is that you?!" Lillian swiftly made her way to Billy Back, who was sitting in his wheelchair right across from the fire, a plate of food on his lap.
"Sure am!" The man flashed Lillian a wide smile and leaned upwards to give her a hug. "My God, how much you've changed since I last saw you,"
When Lillian Wallace used to come down to La Push with her family as a young adult, she spent most of her time going out with him and his late wife Sarah. Of course, as they both got older and had kids, Billy and Lillian rarely kept in touch but in the last couple of months the two of them had been phoning each other constantly as Lillian announced she would be moving to the area.
"I hope you mean that I've gotten more beautiful, old man." Lillian warned playfully.
"Of course!" He laughed cheerily, "And is this your even more beautiful daughter?"
Aurora blushed lightly, feeling as though everyone was now looking in her direction; curious to see what the new girl would be like. "I'm Aurora, nice to meet you." She shook hands with Billy who later introduced her to the people around them- mostly the parents of the pack members, as Billy referred to them. He also introduced Aurora to Sam Uley and his smiling fiancée Emily, who although looked very beautiful, had three long scars across half of her face.
