You sat down in your seat, ignoring the stares the other people were giving you. Students leaving and coming back in the middle of the year was a strange occurrence in Kunugigaoka, but the principal made an exception for you seeing as having a detective-to-be as a student could look good for the school.
In an effort to make yourself invisible, you pulled out your study notebook and read it quietly- you've arrived after the midterms of the first term, meaning that the finals will be the tests deciding whether you'd get to stay in the A class. You knew better than to hope that the principal would be kind to you- that man is a monster!
You couldn't wait until you finally become a proper detective and leave school forever. All your friends got put into the E class and the people in the main building were all egotistical dicks.
As you started to doodle on your notebook, a strawberry blonde came in your direction.
"It's nice to see you again, [y/n] -san" he greeted with an awfully fake smile.
"It's nice to be back. " you return a fake smile, trying to make your voice sound as sweet as possible. The last thing you needed to do right now was piss off the principals son.
You could feel the burning glares from his fangirls when he left you alone again.
Looking down at you notebook, you see that he's left a note for you.
Meet me in the library after school.
All of your common sense told you going would only be trouble, but as the day went on, your curiosity was ripping you apart and being the detective you were, you couldn't stand leaving a mystery unsolved no matter how small or trivial it was.
(Time skip)
You sat in the library, keeping an eye out for a mop of strawberry blonde hair.
You're going to regret this.
Maybe. Maybe not.
Curiosity killed the cat.
But satisfaction brought it back.
Blocking out the anxious voice in your head, you see Asano walking in alone. That was strange- he usually had four little minions waddling after him.
"Hello Asano-san."
"Please, " he spoke, a small still plastered onto his face "Call me by my first name."
"Okay, Gakushuu-san" you were starting to get sick from this nice act.
"Can we please drop the act? Everyone with a brain can see though your nice-guy mask."
He looked shocked at your ability to keep a pleasant voice while delivering your sentence, but in your line of work, being direct was a must. You didn't have the time to pretend to be friendly then, you didn't have time to be friendly now.
"So," you went on seeing as Gakushuu didn't look like he was going to start talking anytime soon. "Why'd you ask me to meet you here?"
His demeanor changed immediately and when he spoke, his voice made it cleat that the conversation was going to be purely business from now on.
"I need you to investigate the E class."
