One Shot for heyitsjazmineee

Jazmine's P.O.V.

Today I get to spend my afternoon with my most favorite people in the entire world: the Brown Family. They have been in my life for quite some time now, for 8 years for a matter of fact, and they have all become very close to me and my family. There is one Brown that I have become the closest with, he has grown into being my best friend: Gabe Brown.

When I got here on the skiff there he was there to greet me. I smiled as I jumped out of my skiff and landed in the water with a big splash. I anchored my skiff and ran to Gabe as fast as I could. I would love to describe it as an excitement like when you haven't seen your brother in a while, but I can't. It was much more than that for me.

It was more like when you haven't seen the guy that just so happened to be your best friend but also just so happens to be the one you have a gigantic crush on. So you can imagine how hard it is for me to hear the next thing he has to tell me.

"I met someone." He said with a huge smile.

"Oh, did you?" I asked faking a smile.

"Yeah, I met her yesterday, at the barge. She is really cool, very pretty." He said as he wrapped an arm around me and started heading to camp.

"That is great Gabe, I am happy for you." I said as my smile faded a bit. I honestly felt sick to my stomach, I thought this would be the visit that might change the others. I was going to tell him that I loved him.

I wasn't sure what to do so I decided there was only one thing I could do, suck it up and let Gabe be happy. If he found someone then that obviously means he didn't care for me in that way.

When we made it to base camp everyone was sitting around the fire for my return. Ami was already making some lunch so everyone could start getting back to work on their self projects.

I was getting with the usually hugs for some, hellos from the others. They always made me feel right at home.

"Are you hungry Jazzy?" Billy asked as he gave me a hug.

"No, I ate before I got here, thank you though!" I said with a smile as we both let go.

After lunch was eaten, everybody went to do what they were working on beforehand.

"Jazmine, do you want to come help me with  my trapper shack?" Gabe asked while he stretched out from the lunch he had made.

"Actually I promised Bam that I would help him with his, sorry Gabey." I said with a frown.

"That's okay! Maybe you could help me later?" He asked with a hopeful grin.

"That sounds like a definite plan!" I said as I gave him the hug I forgot to give him earlier.

"Good, then I can tell you about Paige." He said as he was walking away.

"Yeah, sounds great. Just what I want to talk about." I mumbled to myself as I walked over to where Bam was starting to build his own house.

As I stood there looking at Bam he knew what was wrong. Besides Gabe, he was the one I was closest to out of the Browns.

"Whats botherin ya kiddo?" Bam asked without having to look up at me.

"It's about that girl Gabe met, isn't it?" He asked as he stopped digging the holes for his posts and looked at me.

"Ugh.. I just don't know what to do..." I confessed as I sat down on the ground.

"I wouldn't stress out about it too much. She just moved here from California. She has a tan, blonde hair, blue eyes, and fake everything. Even if they started dating, she wouldn't last." He said as he came and sat beside me.

"You might be right. I hope you're right. I was going to tell him how I feel like you told me to, but I kinda can't now.." I said as I looked over at him.

"Well, just wait. Give it time to see what will happen." He said as he nodded.

He's right. I just need to wait.
