They walked to the car. Jason was still carrying Piper in his arms. She looked at him with a broken stare. Like all the happiness had left her eyes. Once he sat her down in the car seat, Piper took a water bottle and drank from it. The cold liquid numbed her senses. All that was left was the empty bottle and the sadness.
