Sentry of the Arcane: Befall

Chapter Thirty-Four: Fitz

I begin to levitate Donovan and myself a few inches into the air, glaring daggers at the bodyguards. I quickly study the different weapons the security guards have; I see some prostrators and regular tasers. I also recognize the large black crystals that act as disclosers, a weapon that is known to either help transfer memories to other people or to knock someone unconscious.

I then frown at the bulky, unfamiliar black guns that two guards are holding. I narrow my eyes at it those guns specifically. Only when I see a black crystal being shot out from the barrel do I tackle Donovan in mid-air, bringing him down on top of two unprepared guards.

I see the guards beginning to close in on us. Picking Donovan up with my telekinesis, I practically toss him down the empty hallway, now not caring how much noise we're making. Jumping over the fallen guards, I dash after Donovan, who I can tell is both angry and thankful. I can hear various crystals shattering on the ground and against the walls as the male Sovereign and I escape the ring of guards.

Suddenly, I see Donovan float up into the air. Skidding to a stop, I look up at the floating Sovereign. I begin to use my telekinesis to bring him down when I feel myself starting to levitate in the air as well. I then feel something shatter against my head, making me black out for a few seconds and drop my hold on the male Sovereign.

When I regain consciousness again after agonizing moments, I don't have time to brace myself as I collide forcefully into the floor, the ceiling, and then the wall. I'm slammed into the wall again before my barely conscious body collapses onto the hallway floor. My vision blurry, I manage to see Donovan being thrown down a separate hallway before the majority of the remaining guards go after him.

Groaning, I try to stand myself up only to be tossed onto the ground again. While on the ground, I feel electric currents painfully travelling through my body, the pain on my left shoulder unbearable because of the taser gun. Since I can't move now, the guards painfully flip me over so my back is to the cool floor. Whatever air I had left in my lungs leaves me when a guard picks me up and slams me onto the floor yet again.

"Should we use it on him now?" the guard with the taser asks the two others.

The guard with the bulky gun frowns in thought. "He wanted us to use it now, right?" he asks. Then holding the gun carelessly over my face, the second guard suggests, "Or should I just hit him with some rentia?" For further emphasis, the man pulls the trigger, missing my forehead by mere inches. My eyes widening considerably, I mentally curse the three imbeciles looming over my paralyzed body.

The third guard laughs. "Or we could just use my prostrator," he says as he nears me. I manage to only narrow my eyes before this guard shoots tzanion at me. I can only clench my jaw as my head throbs painfully. And the cackles of the three idiots just manage to make the pain worse. If I didn't know any better, I would've pinned them as brain-dead miracles of life.

Suddenly, the first guard stops laughing. Wearing a rather bored expression, he says, "But seriously. We need to do something, or he'll be angry." Looking down at me, he holds up two fingers. "How many fingers am I holding?" he asks loudly, as if I'm deaf.

Forcing myself to not roll my eyes, I decide to make them think that the tzanion really did a number on my mind. "Are you holding fingers?" I ask, letting my eyes go cross-eyed temporarily for dramatic effect- Donovan would be proud of me if he saw me right now. "I just see blurs." I repress a smirk when the three guards seem to have bought my rouse.

"We don't have to use it on him now, then!" the first guard says. The prostrator and the taser gun must've made him have the same effects that it would've done." He then hoists me roughly over the shoulder and begins to walk down the hallway in the direction that Donovan and I were trying to go.
