Chapter #7

For the whole day, Seongwu had been walking. He was just enjoying the beautiful view while getting a nosebleed inside the bathroom but when he blinks, he's suddenly on a pathway to darkness. The ground is white and glowing, leading him towards somewhere over the dark horizon where he can't see. His legs starts moving, taking one step at a time rather slowly towards a destination that he never knows.

He'd been here before. Multiple of times but he never knew where this road is leading him. Sometimes, while walking, he could hear a children's choir, singing to a song he had never heard before. Sometimes, butterflies with wings painted in rainbows, would dance around him before disappearing in the darkness. Sometimes, he would hear random conversations that he couldn't make out. And sometimes, he could hear the cries of someone, screaming, shouting and begging.

This time, he saw the end of the road. 

3 doors aligned in front of him. One is white, one is blue and the other is yellow. He had to choose of course but he couldn't stop moving. The decision was never his. He already knew where the doors are leading but he couldn't tell which one leads to which. Heaven, Hell or back to reality. 

His eyes closed on their own as his arm reaches out to choose a door. When he finally hold onto a doorknob, his eyes went open and the door is black. He smiled.

He opens it and finds himself entering Daniel's apartment. Dr. Kwon and Yongguk was just about to leave and he managed to lock eyes with Yongguk for a second before they passed through him.

Seongwu finally moves towards Daniel who seemed to have a lot of thoughts in his mind and the ghost thought he should be the prince to accompany his damsel in distress so...

"Hey, miss me?" 

"Hyung" Daniel said softly as his eyes slowly turned into crescents and the way he smiles as if the problems he was thinking just vanished from his head is so heartwarming and if Seongwu has a heart, it would beat uncontrollably. 

"YOU'RE SO CUTE I WANT TO PINCH YOUR CHEEKS BUT I CANT"

Daniel laughs out loud, he finally felt like he's breathing. He never thought he would miss someone he had never seen or practically a ghost. He felt tonnes of relief, like the weight of the world was just lifted from his shoulders. If someone happens to open his apartment door right now, they'd probably call the asylum. 

"You just made my day better, hyung" He said while still laughing. The pain in his head had ceased and only excitement and happiness revolves around his mind. It's like eating cotton candy, the soft and sweet feeling arouses you to be more... happy.

"Why? Did you miss me so much that your day isn't that great?"

"A lot of things happened at school"

"Tell me your stories"

"My classmates kept worrying about me... I asked if they knew your name and yeah they do, even though they made mistakes with your name and..." Daniel looks around his room. "... do you know Yongguk?"

"That foxed-face kid? The one that just left with the doctor?" 

"Yeah, that guy"

"It's not like I know him but he can surely see me"

"He can see you!?"

"Yeah, just now we locked gaze with each other. I'm not sure if he can hear me though. I tried talking to him but he never respond, just looking at me with those bored eyes"

"Maybe you're so ugly"

"No, I'm so good-looking that he's speechless!"

"Can't believe you"

"How about you check the school yearbook from umm... 2 years ago? I'm sure my face is there... I think"

"And where should I find this yearbook?"

"The school library duh. I know you're stupid but not that stupid"

"That's offensive"

"You'll always be my pabo"

"How do you even know I'm stupid anyway?"

"You looked like one, especially when you smile. That pabo smile is sHO CUTE!"

"You can't just judge my knowledge based on the way I smile!" The apartment was filled by both of their laughter and they seem to forget about everything each time they're together.

Meanwhile

"I've told you it's not time yet!"

"I-I'm sorry"

"Let them know by themselves. Slow and steady, okay"

"O-okay"

"I-"

*ding*

'You have one new message'

From Dr. Lee :-

His heartbeat just died a minute ago and we manage to bring him back. As much as I hate to say this, he doesn't have much time. The hospital had requested to terminate his life support. If he doesn't wake up soon, he has to die.

"Damn it"

"What's wrong?"

"You know what Longguo, let's cut the slow and change it to fast but steady. We don't have much time"

"But noona-"

"Wait, I'm making a call"

"Hello, Dr. Kwon, I believe you've read the message?"

"Yeah, Seokhoon oppa. I have a question"

"Proceed"

"Did the hospital says when they're gonna cut off his life support?"

"I believe in a week"

"Make a request for a month"

"I'll try"

"I believe we can still save him, especially when Daniel is back" She ends the call and turns to Yongguk.

"Longguo, it's up to you now. Only you can save them. All of them and that includes you too"

"Okay, Boa noona. I'll try my best" Yongguk stares at the sky, from his seat by the window as the car drove away from Daniel's apartment. Slowly, he reminisces the past on how he first met his best friend.
