It was a Tuesday afternoon on the second week of Alice Denton summer holidays. The skies were a light grey colour and rain was coming from all directions. Alice was sat in room with her face pressed up against the glass with a bored expression on her face. She had only been away from school for just over a week and she was already bored. She had tidied her room twice, sorted out her wardrobe, organised her bookcase in alphabetical order and read her two new books she had purchased three weeks previously. Although she expected her holidays to be just as boring as the last one, she could help but hope something exciting might happen this summer. She was fed up doing the same thing over and over again. It didn't help that the only friend she had was away all summer staying at her Grandparents house in Cornwall.

She was debating whether or not to try wrestle the TV remote from her brother's hand, when she heard a high pitched scream coming from the direction of her sister room. Without thinking she open her bedroom door and ran across the hall into her sister room.

"What's the matter" she asked out of breath

"MY NAIL, IVE BROKEN MY NAIL "Rachel shouted in panic

Throwing an annoyed look at her sister Alice turned her back and left the room mumbling about how she could have such an egotistical sister and started counting down the days until her visit would end. Once she was back in her room Alice felt she was too annoyed to stay indoors, so she picked up her purse and decided that she would walk to the local café and get a Hot chocolate. Alice walk down stairs and put on her rain coat and boots and was about to open the front door when she heard her mother call her name.

"Alice is that you" asked her mother in a gentle tone

Turning around Alice walk in to the kitchen and found her mother making a cup of tea. She looked up from the kettle and turned to look at Alice.

"Were you just about to go out without ask me?" she asked in a disapproving tone

"Sorry mum I just needed a bit of fresh air, I was going to walk Tony's and get a Hot chocolate, I will be back before tea" Alice explained

"I guess that's okay, as long as you're back in time for tea" she said

"Will be" Alice called as she left the room.

Opening the front door Alice walked down the driveway on to the street and started walking in the direction of Tony's café. Tony's was a small café located in the middle of Greenwich Street next to a charity shop, it was run by a kind man in his 60s and his wife Linda. Alice enjoyed spending a lot of time there with a book and a hot drink. The café had a very welcoming and friendly feel to it, with big comfortable chairs and an open fire. Alice particularly enjoyed sitting near the window so she could watch the different types of people walk by. Alice notice the rain was slowly starting to stop and could see the sun trying to break through the clouds.

Alice was about to turn onto maple street when she noticed that she was being followed by a strange looking boy. This boy was dressed in the most peculiar fashion with a bright orange top and lime green jacket and white trousers, he look as if he should belong to a circus. The strangest thing about this boy were his eyes, one of them was green and the other was yellow. Alice had never seen eyes like this before and thought they must be fake as no one could two different coloured eyes.

She decided it was probably best to try and lose this strange boy, turning around for one last glance she notice he was no longer there. Feeling very confused Alice looked across the street to see if he had moved, but he was nowhere to be seen. Shaking her head thinking that she could have just imagined this boy she continued her walk to Tony's.

When she arrived at Tony's she notice it was almost empty, which was probably due to the bad weather. She walked up to counter taking off her raincoat and order a hot Chocolate.

"Good afternoon Alice, Hot Chocolate?" Linda asked with a smile

"Yes please Linda, I will be sat at my usual place" she replied.

"Okay sweetie that will be £1.80" she asked

"Here you go" Alice said handing over £2 "keep the change "she said.

"Thank you dear, I will bring it over to you in just a minuet" She replied

Alice walked over to the window seat and sat down looking out the window. The rain had completely stopped now, and you could just see the beginning of a rainbow appearing in the sky. Whilst she had been away with her thoughts her drink had been put down in front of her. Alice took a sip of drink and looked back out the window, she was met with a pair of green and yellow eyes. She jumped back in shock, that strange boy from earlier was stood directly in front of her on the other side of the glass. At close glance she realised that he was not a boy at all but a young man instead, she guess he was in his early 20s.

He smiled at her in a strange sort of way, as if he'd been looking for something for a very long time, and had finally found it. He looked at her once more and walked away out of site. Alice heard a bell ring from the door of the café being open, but she took no notice of whoever walk in as she was still trying to get her head around what just happened. Sighing to herself Alice turned back in her chair and was once again shock out of her seat , as sat before her was none other than the green and yellow eyed man.
