Rivals...

I remember as if it were yesterday, the very time someone decided to interfere with me and Mason's friendship. "What is the person's name?" You may ask this question, and of course, there is an answer that I will gladly provide you with. This person I speak of, was indeed a girl about my age, and her name... was Nicole. You may also be wondering how this even happened in the first place; which again, I have an answer to that question and don't mind explaining the situation at all.

So, one day, Mason and I had decided that after school we would go to the local public park just down the street from our high school. After the final bell, we ran out of the imprisoning doors of the school and in just a few minutes, we had finally arrived at the park where we found a nice shady spot under a big oak tree and sat down. "Thanks for agreeing to hang out with me today Amber" Mason said to me with a bright smile spreading across his face. "It's nothing, I mean, you are my friend after all; and I really enjoy spending time with you", I replied with a slight grin. "Aw thanks Amber, that's so sweet" Mason said as we continued to laugh and have fun together.

A few hours had passed and it was now time to leave. The two of us had just stood up and were picking up our backpacks from the soft ground. Finally, we gave each other a small hug and waved goodbye- but just as we began to part our ways, a new even had occurred. Just a few footsteps away from Mason, I began to hear what sounded like running, and once I turned around, I saw it; there was an exhausted girl standing right in front of Mason. She had long blonde hair which was tied up into a high ponytail, with eyes that were a light shade of brown- and as soon as I saw those features, I realized it was none other than Nicole, one of the most popular girls in school.

"Hey Mason!" Nicole said running up to him and giving him a huge hug. "What are you doing here? I never thought I'd see a cutie like you he-" and right as she had cut off her own sentence, I soon realized the reason why. Nicole had noticed I was there and was soon staring right at me with her terrible icy glare. Nicole then turned back to Mason and with a huge frown, she said "what's she doing here? You weren't hanging out with her were you?"
"First of all, her name is Amber, and second, I was hanging out with her because she's my friend and I like spending time wit her!" Mason angrily yelled back. I wanted to say something, but I decided to remain quiet as I knew things might only get worse if I joined in.

"Why would you even want to hang out with someone like her? Can't you see it, she's broken, and that's all she'll ever be!"
"Listen up Nicole, maybe you think she's broken but I definitely don't. Amber is an amazing person and maybe if you didn't always bully her, you would actually be able to open your eyes and see it for yourself! Besides, you can't tell me who I can and can't be friends with, I can do whatever I want and you can't judge or dictate my life for me you got that?"
"Mason I'm just trying to protect you!"
"Well clearly it's not working so maybe you should just get out of my sight!"
"You know what, fine, maybe I will!", and just like that, she got ready to storm off; but first she pulled me away to have a quick conversation.

"Listen up Amber, I know you have a crush on Mason, but he would never pick a stupid broken girl over someone pretty and popular like me", she said, "so unless you want to face the consequences of messing with me, stay away from him!"
"You're silly if you think I'll give up that easy, like Mason would ever love such a stuck up brat like you", I replied with an evil smirk on my face. "If you think I'll give up that easily, then you clearly thought wrong- trust me, I'm capable of doing things you wouldn't even think of."
"Like what, it's not like you can hurt me!"
"But I can, and I'll make sure it- you know, I probably shouldn't talk about this here" I said with a slightly psychotic smile on my face. "You don't scare me!", she yelled in retort. "But I can", I replied.

At this point I could tell Nicole was starting to get freaked out. "Whatever, maybe we could have been some sort of friends before, but from this point on, consider ourselves rivals!"
"Rivals, I like the sound of that", I said- and just like that, she stormed away. I couldn't help but think of what se had just said; rivals, maybe this would be my chance to make her pay for all of the horrible things she had done to me, maybe now.... I could finally make her suffer. A few seconds later I had come back to reality and realized that Mason was still at the park probably wondering where I had gone. Once I had found him, he apologized for what had happened and we both left the park. That night, I lay in bed thinking of what Nicole had said- I didn't know what I would do to her yet, but I knew one thing; I would make it hurt as much as possible, and I didn't care if it meant blood had to be spilled.
