The Next Day

I woke up very excitedly the next morning, it was finally Saturday, which meant it was also the weekend. Yes, the weekend, which meant no school for two whole days, and ,out importantly, no Nicole. After laying in bed for a few minutes, I finally got up and went downstairs to eat some breakfast. Realizing my parents weren't to be found in the house, I thought that they probably went out to run some errands and might not be back for at least a few hours; so I made myself a bowl of cereal and quickly ate it along with some orange juice.

There was nothing planned on my schedule for the day so I decided that I would just stay in my room watching movies on the T.V and playing video games. I quickly pulled out my stash of movies and selected a movie with the title "The Lost Princess". So, I ran downstairs to make some popcorn and once it was done, I went back to my bedroom and began to play my movie. To be honest, I found the movie quite boring, but I kept watching mainly because I thought it might get better if I patiently wait, but also because I was too lazy to get up and play another movie.

About an hour or two later, I got a text message from Mason.
"Hey Amber are you busy today?"
"Hi Mason, no I don't really have any plans today. Why are you asking?"
"Do you want to meet the up and hang out today?"
"Sure! Where do you want to meet up?"
"Would the Starbucks near the park be okay, or do you want to meet up somewhere else?
"No no, Starbucks is fine. What time do you want me to meet you there?"
"How about in an hour?"
"That's fine with me."
"Okay, see you soon Amber!"
Okay, I know I planned on watching movies all day, but spending time with Mason would be so much more fun- just the two of us, alone together; it all seemed too good to be true! After a bit of daydreaming and fantasizing about what could happen, I turned off my movie (I don't regret it either), and I got ready to go see Mason.

Texting my parents so they knew where I was and locking the door to my house; I excitedly skipped to Starbucks knowing that I would get to spend some time with Mason. That's right, just me and Mason together, nothing able to get in our way, and most importantly... no Nicole! As soon as I arrived, I pushed open the door to the busy cafe and quickly got in line be to order my drink. Once it was finally my turn to go up to the counter, I ordered and payed for my favourite tea, which was delivered to me in quite a short amount of time. Tea in hand, I started looking for Mason; except for one thing, I couldn't find him. Having checked the entirety of the downstairs level, I decided either he wasn't here yet, or he was upstairs; so that's where I went next.

After climbing up all of those stairs, I had reached the next level where I found Mason sitting at a table for two just to the right of me. Joining him at the table, Mason and I quickly greeted each other with a nice "hello", and began chatting."Sorry if I was late", I said, "I was watching a movie when you texted me and I still had to get ready."
"Oh that's okay, I wasn't waiting here for too long anyway. I'm just glad that you're here now!", he replied excitedly- but soon after, his facial expression changed to a more serious look.

"Uh... Amber?"
"Yes Mason?" I replied with a slightly puzzled look on my face. "The reason I wanted to meet you here was actually because I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Oh, alright...what is it?"
"Did anything happen between you and Nicole yesterday when she pulled you away to talk?"
"No, nothing bad happened at all between the two of us, why are you asking?"
"I'm glad, because when she pulled you away I got really worried. Nicole isn't always the nicest person, and I just didn't want you to get hurt or anything, because I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened to you Amber."
"Aw thanks for worrying about me, that's really sweet of you Mason, no ones ever done something like this to me before and I really appreciate it. But don't worry, no one got hurt so you don't need to feel guilty or worried anymore."
"Thanks goodness, because trust me; I know the kind of person Nicole is and I know that she can be really harsh towards some people, especially you considering what some people have been saying about you."
"Mason I swear I'm fine! Please don't worry anymore." I said with a smile.

We decided to leave our conversation at that, and drop the topic. We talked for hours and hours until it was finally getting dark outside and the two of us had to go. "Thanks for hanging out with me today Amber", Mason said with a bug smile on his face. "No problem, thanks for inviting me, you totally saved me from a boring movie", I replied as we both shared a giggle together. "Speaking of movies, there's one call per the lost princess that I really wanted to-"
"Don't bother, it's not a good movie, trust me when I say that it's the most boring thing you will ever watch!"
"Seriously, it's that bad? Remind me to never think of watching that movie ever again"
"Hah don't worry I will" I replied with a smile on my face. We both gave each other a quick warm hug, and with that being done, we left.

Once I got home I had a quick snack, talked to my parents for a few minutes, and went back upstairs. Thinking about what Mason had said to me earlier made me feel so happy, for once someone had worried about my well being. I decided to finish the remainder of "The Lost Princess" since there wasn't much of it left. For a movie that's almost entirely boring, it actually had a pretty good end. Later on, I decided to go to bed so that I could wake up early tomorrow. So I put on my pyjamas, turned off the light, and went to bed. As I was falling asleep, I realized something; while Mason and I were good friends, Nicole could interfere with that and take Mason away from me, maybe even turn him against me. It was then that I decided that the next morning I would think of ways to get rid of Nicole as fast as possible so that would never happen, it didn't matter to me even if I had to resort to murder; as long as she was gone, I would be happy. But the thing about the situation I was put in, was that there was one thing in my way...time. I knew I was running out of time each day, but I didn't know how much time I had left either, which meant that the quicker I got the job done, the better it was for me and Mason's friendship.
