Arrogance versus Sarcasm

Chapter 2

I'm a distressed guy! Ugh! Nakakainis na yung American girl na yun. Bitch talaga. Buti na lang may recess talaga, kundi nabaliw na ako sa katabi ko.

My friends from the same class all huddles up together at sumama na ako. Nakaupo kami sa may damuhan. "Ang hot nung new student!" sabi ni Joshua, yung kaibigan kong mahilig sa porno. Ok, so maybe not pero you'll never know...

"Ang swerte nga ni Arrow!" tuloy pa niya. Yung best friend ko naman na nasa kabilang klase ay nandito rin at nakinig. Tapos nagsalita siya, "Bakit naman? Anong name niya?"

"Aba'y katabi niya! Hahaha! Cali or something ata."

I rolled my eyes and scoffed, "I'm not lucky! Malas siya! Sobra. And it's not Cali; it's Cariffia. Cariffia Filker."

Ngumiti ang best friend ko, "Naku, Arrow, mukhang malaki ang epekto sa iyo ng girl na yan. Sa group nga, ikaw ang parang babae, but I'm glad there's someone you can stand up to hahaha!"

"Hindi ka nakakatawa, Tyler." Si Tyler Sy ay isang 'chinito' Kung tawagin dito sa Pilipinas. At oo, madaldal nga ako kaya ako ang parang babae sa group. I must've inherited it from my mum. Unlike, Cariffia, I've been in the Philippines ever since third grade. Kaya sanay na ako. Ang defense mechanism ko sa mga girls ay yung pagkapilosopo ko. Or being "sarcastic" in Cariffia's terms.

Yung isa naman naming kaibigan na si Vick de la Rosa at nandoon na sa harap ni Alyssa Cheng at Cariffia Filker. At dahil nga mga lalaki kami, nag eavesdrop kami.

"You must be new. Hi, I'm Vick de la Rosa." Well no freaking duh, Vick. It's not like we get new students every year so the freshmeat immediately gets noticed.

Ngumiti naman si Cariffia, "I'm Cariffia Filker. And yeah, I'm new."

"Would you like me to tour you or...?"

"No! No! It's okay, Aly has my back. It was a pleasure meeting you Vick but Aly and I need some food to chug down. See ya around, hotshot!"

Vick stared dreamily at her retreating back before going back to us. "Nice one pare!" sabi nung unang lalaking nagsalita kanina. His name's Ian Fuentes.

Tuwang tuwa naman si Vick o. Haha!

"So I see you met Vick," I whispered to her ear as we sat. Tumingin siya and sa akin at sumimangot. "I'm too good for that kind of guy."

I retorted, "And I'm not?"

And home run!!! Nag blush siya at tumalikod, "Don't flatter yourself, Heeves."

"Nice of you to remember, Filker. Pero sa totoo lang, you need to learn Tagalog. Girls are dangerous when they talk behind you."

Humarap ulit siya at ngumiti, "Teach me, oh King of sarcasm! I know they are and I feel that you're the only one I can trust."

Tumaas ang guard ko sa sarili ko at tinalikuran ko siya, "Don't trust me, oh Queen of arrogance. Mabuti magpaturo ko na lang kay Yssa."

A look of confusion etched on her face. "What? Yssa?"

I huffed, "Yssa. Alyssa. Aly. Big difference. Makinig ka na lang sa teacher, Cariffia."

Then she flipped her goddamn hair, "Whatever, Arroahn."

"Ang tanga mo talaga! Your fucking hair just got into my freaking mouth. And you're not even apologizing, you bitch." In case you were wondering, pabulong lang siya na sigaw. Kaya di kami rinig ng teacher.

Then she flipped me off! With that middle finger! "You deserve it you jerk. That ought to teach you not to mess with me and to shut up for once."

Inirapan ko siya, "So demanding. American people are just so arrogant."

Nginitian na naman niya ako at nakita ko na naman ang ocean blue eyes niya na nakakaasar. "British boys are so sarcastic."
