Chapter Six

I open my eyes slowly; The room i'm in is blurry. I can't see things properly. There's a bright light coming from the ceiling. It's a lamp. My lamp. I can tell by the colour of the light; It's bright, with an ever so slight yellow tint, nothing that can get in my way whenever I do certain things. I can hear people talking, but it feels distant, like it's miles away, yet still in the same room. I slowly turn my head once my vision has stopped being so blurry. Jean's sitting beside me. Why is he here? Why am I here? The last thing I remember is that...

I looked down at the counter, shaking my head slightly. "I'm fine.. don't worry.." I said softly, slowly starting to make my way back to the stairs.

Then... Then everything went black.

"You passed out.." Jean's voice said softly, looking at me with a serious expression. "... Do you believe in reincarnation?" I blunt out of nowhere, the voices in the background stopped. I can feel everyone in the room look at me. Jean looked shocked; I get why. It's not a question you'd assume someone would blunt out. Jean stuttered a little before finding his answer. "-I believe.. it might be possible.. tha-that some peop-le.. can be reincarnated.." He said softly, trying to find the correct words. I just look at him, before turning my head to look back at the ceiling. "... Eren? Do you think that we might be reincarnated from like... different worlds? Like, our bodies are still in the universe we died in.. we're still remembered in that world.. in that universe.. People there.. still know about us.. they still remember us.. Do you think that might be the case..?" I ask as I turn my head again, this time to look at Eren. To my surprise, Levi's there as well.. He looks shocked. None of the people in my room wants to answer, or maybe they don't know how to answer.

Levi opens his mouth a little to answer, before closing it again. After a moment he opens it, "I.. I mean.. it's a possibility.. What's.. what's your thought on it? Do you believe it?"

My head turn to look at the ceiling again. "... Yeah.. I believe that we were reincarnated into this world.. because we did something incredible in our past life... That we did something good for the people in that universe.. that we got reincarnated to- to help others in this universe.. You get me?" I say softly.

Levi nodded a little. "What.. what do you believe our past life was like?" He asked. I stayed quiet for a little, thinking. "... Don't judge me about this, okay..? I know it sounds weird and all.. but I've had these blackouts and dreams... about this universe with-with human-eating giants.. and we were like solders.. and we fought them. The giants." I explained, moving my hands a little as I talked, letting out a small chuckle. "And you and me.. we were like, married.. you were a corporal.." I laugh softly. I can't help it, it's funny. It sounds so weird and it's just funny. "And a few years.. before you died.. we defeated the titans.. and.. and you died.. a couple of years before me.." I shake my head. "It's weird, I know. I mean, it makes no sense, right? 'man-eating giants'- my ass.." I smile.

"What if I told you that it's true..? That, that's exactly how our past life was?" Levi looked out the window. I look at him, raising an eyebrow.

"You were in the scouting regiment.." Levi stood up straight from leaning against the doorframe. He walked over to my table and took my sketchbook. I don't bother to stop him, I've pretty much showed him everything in it. He opens it and turns the pages. "You were in my squad... one of my bravest solders. And the most stubborn." He smiled a little; I couldn't help but smile, he's just... so handsome. "We lived inside the walls... the walls that kept us away from the titans... the giants." I sat up so I could listen better. "... I didn't like you." He said blankly, like what he said didn't matter. But it did. It hurt to hear him say that. My smile drop as I look down in my lap. Levi turn and walk over to me, sitting down on the chair Jean had previously been sitting on; him and Eren had left the room. "I hated the way you made me feel... hated the way you could just so easily take full control of me and... and make me talk.. about my past.. about my feelings." His voice was soft, calm... like the type of voice you'd use to lull someone to sleep... "I hated that you were able to make me feel at peace, even when I had three times as much work as I'd normally have..." I bit my lip as I listened. It was weird to hear all this come from his mouth.. "I still hate how you, even though I haven't been able to talk to you all too much for the past years, how you make me feel calm.. happy.. like there's someone out here that.. that actually loves me... even if you might not love me anymore.."
