Chapter Eight
The first person on Grahams interrogation list is the wife: first reason is because she is the victim’s wife – need to know if there was anyone who was having problems with him and if there were any death threats against him, and second reason is that huge fight they had on the bus – his wife defiantly making death threats, she was Grahams main suspect.
Once Phoebe and Graham were done setting up her workplace they went back to their cabin (well Phoebes, but the boys were now crashing there,) to see if Skylar and Gage were doing okay. By this time it was almost eleven o’clock. Instead of knocking on the door Phoebe barged right in only to see Skylar sitting on her bed with her laptop on her lap and Gage right next to her reading over her shoulder.
“Well hello there cuties, how are you doing?” Phoebe cooed.
“Ha. Ha.” Skylar laughed, “We are doing fine, hungry actually,”
Graham and Phoebe exchanged glances then Graham said, “Well that’s too bad we have a case to solve.” All while smiling cheekily.
“What do you mean we have a case to solve?” Gage asked warily.
“Um. Well while you were sleeping some guy – you remember the couple from the bus that were arguing?”
“Yeah,” they said simultaneously.
“Well the victim is the husband or whatever he was to her.” Graham shook his head.
“Oh. Well that’s unfortunate.” Gage shrugged and went back to what he was looking at on Skylars screen.
“Guys the body is ready for Skylar and Phoebe to perform the autopsy on it.” Graham informed.
“What? What about me I’m an intern I’m suppose to help,” Gage exclaimed.
“Yes, but your going to help me look for more clues and interrogate people with me.” Graham smiled at Gage.
“What! Why?” Gage looked at Graham with a puzzled expression.
“You’ve been with Skylar all morning and I’ve been with Phoebe all morning, -“
Phoebe and Skylar interrupted simultaneously, “That better not be an insults about us!
“- So I thought it was time for us to have some to have some guy time,”
“Oh,” the girls once again spoke simultaneously.
“Oh. Okay, I guess we could do that,” Gage replied suspiciously.
“Great lets get going!”
Graham and Phoebe waited for Gage and Skylar to get ready. Gage and Skylar both squished themselves into the little bathroom and worked around each other as well as they could while they did that Graham and Phoebe laid on Phoebes bed.
“So?” Graham said.
“So, what?” Phoebe asked.
“I meant it when I said you had a very pretty smile.”
“Thank you, and I mean that.” She said while stretching out and groaning from the pain it caused her.
“You okay?” Graham asked while flipping over on his side so he was facing her.
“Yeah, just a little tired and sore,” she said while turning on her side to face him.
“Go to sleep then,”
“No I have to help Sky with the autopsy.” She rushed out.
“No, I’ll just tell them that you’re tired and needed a nap. Make that two instead.”
“Two? Are you tired too?”
“Yeah well I was up all night saving you,” he winked at her.
“Sorry about that,” she looked away ashamed.
“Hey its okay I’d do it again if I could,” he touched her arm.
“Thank you again and again and again,” she said tears on the brims of her eyes.
“Well let me tell those two that they can start without us,” he smiled down at her.
“Okay,” she said and snuggled under the covers and into the pillow.
Graham walked over to the bathroom door and knocked before walking in.
“Hey guys, we are going to let you two start without us. The nap it calling our names.” He said an turned around and walked out of the bathroom.
Phoebe felt the bed dip then the covers being lifted up then a light snore come from Grahams side of the bed – it was cute. She reached out an brushed a piece of hair that had fallen out of his messy-do.
“Thank you my hero.” Then she fell into a deep sleep.
