"It's an interesting concept, fear."

"What does a human see fit for fear? We all die in the end."

"Darkness."

Run. Run. Run.

But to where......?

                                                                           .......

You felt something warm around you, soft and comforting. Something smelled sweet, like a newly bloomed rose next to you. You slightly cracked your eyes open, a beam of light shining directly upon them, jolting you awake. You groaned in annoyance and slowly became aware of your surroundings. Someone was hugging you extremely closely to their body. You closed your tired eyes , wanting to sleep more.

Wait.

Someone was hugging you.

...

You screamed, slapping the face of whoever it was extremely hard, shoving them away from you as quickly as you could. You were still inside the closet, there was nowhere to run to. You pushed the slightly ajar closet door open, crawling out quickly, accidentally kicking the person.

"Arghh!" What?! What was that for?! What's going on!?" You turned to see an absolutely confused Ciel, holding his cheek which had turned a bright red color. He looked frustrated as well. You immediately turned red, recollecting some of the events of the night before.

"I'm so sorry, I was scared, I didn't realize it was you and-" you quickly rushed to explain, but Ciel held up a hand telling you to be quiet.

"It's alright, I invaded your privacy and would've done the same. However, please Ms. y/n understand that what happened the night before was an involuntary act done from fear which I'm sure you had experience." He said, looking annoyed. A moment of silence passed as both of you took a second to take in everything.

"What happened...?" You asked, looking around at the one beautifully furnished room, now with almost everything in it torn up and blood staining the carpet. Ciel tsked.

"We were attacked, obviously. " You sighed in frustration with the boy, if only he wasn't so annoyed and sarcastic all the time.

"I'm sorry, but since you were the one that seemed to know what was going on previously, I thought you would. Pardon me for making an assumption that made sense." You said passive aggressiveley. Ciel shot a glare towards you, then his face softened a bit.

"I have no idea what happened. Sebastian told me to hide here and to not move or make a single sound. He also asked me to look out for you. " Ciel said thoughtfully. "But what I can't understand is why he didn't come to wake me. Just because of the events that took place doesn't mean he gets a break for his duties!" Ciel said angrily. You sighed.

"What if something happened to him, Ciel?" You said tiredly. He could behave like a little child when he wanted to, even though he was 14, almost 15.

"Because he's Sebastian. That man can survive 50 bombs without a single scratch on him." Ciel said definitively. He walked out of the room, and just before he could go, he turned around , looking at you,  smiling awkwardly. He probably wasn't used to it. "Well, are you coming?" He asked. You had no idea how to respond, especially with that awkward smile. You finally rolled your eyes.

" Of course I am. I want answers." You followed him done a series of hallways and stairs until you found yourself in the dining room. Sebastian was there, setting the breakfast down perfectly fine, a small smile on his face as usual. Ciel walked up to him and slapped him, having to reach up.

"What was the meaning of that? Leaving us to sleep in the closet after the previous night's fright?!" Ciel asked angrily. "That is not how a phantomhive butler behaves!" Sebastian laughed a little.

"Sorry , my lord, but I just recently finished dealing with our 'guest' and was busy preparing breakfast. I didn't want to wake you until it was ready. After all, you needed your sleep. Not to mention that you needed to be with another soul for your own safety, and I highly doubt that you would've wanted to share a bed with Miss y/n ." You blushed, not able to help it, and Ciel did as well.

"What had happened yesterday?" Ciel asked.

"We were attacked by a demon that was hungry for your soul, my lord. But not to worry, I took care of it." Sebastian smiled darkly. "But it was good miss y/n was with you, because she helped mask the scent of her soul. However, that demon still almost reached you because her soul is rather interesting as well."

"Very well." Ciel said. You both ate your breakfast quickly, and Ciel was gone, leaving you to your boredom. You headed to your room, which had a bookcase in it, and read for quite a while, losing track of time. It was pitch black outside, except for the moon shining outside, a cool breeze entering through your window. Suddenly you heard a knock on the door. It was Mey-rin.

"Miss y/n, young master wanted to see you." You raised an eyebrow. What could he possibly want? " would you like me to help you get dressed?" Mey-rin asked. After dressing, you had to admit to yourself that you looked good, the dress you wee wearing was stunning.

"Mey-rin, does Ciel have an obsession with midnight blue?" She laughed , and nodded.

"Most of the dresses he picked for you are that color." Mey-rin said. You followed her after you were done as she lead you to Ciel.  You  saw that he was waiting in one of the many gardens , looking at a beautiful red rose. Mey-rin left, leaving you alone with Ciel in the garden. It was beautiful, the moon illuminating the red rose bushes, the cool air against your skin. Ciel turned to face you, and your heart couldn't help but skip a beat, as he looked so perfect along the beautiful scenery.

"Y/n, I wanted to talk to you about something important." Ciel said. You two started walking around the gardens as Ciel spoke to you. "Tomorrow I am going to hold a ball, and many noblemen and women will be attending. Your name will be Charlotte, and your story will be that you are a distant cousin of mine. You must act like a lady, as these people are very judgmental. You nodded. Some things never changed in society.

"Of course I will Ciel. I already am the most proper lady you'll meet, that no one will avoid my charms," you joked. Ciel didn't laugh or smile, but that was expected.

"I am serious, Charlotte." Then turned to face you, a moment of silence passing. Before you could say anything, Ciel pressed his lips against yours, kissing you. You couldn't react, or do anything for that matter. He pulled away and ran off before you could say anything, leaving you confused.

"Ciel..." you whispered, touching your lips, where he had sweetly and shyly kissed you. You also realized something else. He had pressed a beautiful white rose into your hand, without you even noticing. What were you supposed to do? How were you supposed to react? Yes, you liked him, but.... you sighed in frustration, sitting down on the rim of a nearby fountain, its light mist spraying you.

Ciels pov:

I had no idea why I'd done that. She had looked so unbearably pretty in that moment, I couldn't help it. What was I supposed to say to her when I saw her again? She looked so pretty...gah,  I'd have to apologize.
