When everyone had finished eating, the team decided it was time for, well, answers.
Allura spoke up. "Resumi? If you don't mind, we'd like to know why you were on that ship in the first place."
"Yes, Princess. Um, I guess I should tell you who I am first. My full name is Resumi Ootori. I am the daughter of a rebel half-Galra woman."
    "G-Galra?"stuttered Keith. "You too?"
"Yes. I'm... assuming you're Keith? The half-Galra paladin?"
    "Y-Yea..."
"You said you were daughter of a rebel half-Galra?" asked Allura.
"Yes. I'm not at all a threat to you. I was taken because one of our supposed team members turned on us."
"You see, a long time ago, when the rebellion began, a few members had families that they'd rather keep safe than involve in fighting, so they settled their families on different planets that they knew Zarkon hadn't taken over. Earth was were my grandmother's older brother placed her. She had a hidden home far away from civilization. As the time went by, she adapted to the human way of life. She began to farm so she could sustain herself. At some point, a lost human appeared at her doorstep. She cared for him and they soon fell in love. She then gave birth to a half-galra woman: my mother."
"Fascinating! But... that doesn't explain why they took you...?"
"Right... Um... this is where my father's family comes to play. My father was son of a very wealthy Japanese family, the Ootori family-"

"Sorry to intereupt, but what's a Japanese?" asked Allura.
    The team giggled.
"Japanese refers to someone from the country of Japan on Earth." stated Lance.
    "Right, sorry! Continue."

"Haha, that's okay! My father's family moved to the United States so they could run their American business. One Summer, they took a vacation to Mexico which is where my parents met. Because my mother was not pure-blooded, and because she had a much lower social status than my father, he knew the Ootori family would never approve of their relationship. So without his family finding out, he helped my mother move to the United States with him. He bought a house for them, and then they had me. We lived happily for a while, but unfortunately the Ootori family found out...."
"...what did they do?..." asked Pidge.
"I'm...not sure. I don't remember much of what happened that day.  All I know is that one minute, we were sitting together on the couch playing video games, and the next, some people walked into our home, put me in a car, and then knocked me out."

"When I woke up I was in a much larger home. I became their servant and lived there not knowing what ever happened to my parents. A few weeks ago though, a supposed rebel had come to complain about how we'd gone long enough without being in the war. He claimed it was time for my grandmother, mother, and I to join the front lines. He couldn't find either of them, but he did find me, and that's why he took me. I really do appreciate what you guys did for me, I would have most likely died, so I owe you my life. Thank you... so much..."

Resumi began to cry. "I don't know how to repay you..."
Shiro spoke up. "Hey, it's okay. You don't need to do anything-"
"When we rescued you..." interrupted Keith. "... you said you were the only one they had taken 'this time'... Does that mean they've done that before?"
"Oh, um, yes." Resumi wiped her eyes."
"Unfortunately, they have. Why...do you ask?"
"My mom... I never met her...."
"She might have returned to the front lines then."
"She could be dead by now...."
"H-Hey, don't say that! We should be positive. Your mom could still be out there. If she had to return so soon it must mean that she was a strong soldier. I doubt she would have given up that easily."
"It's been seventeen years! Don't you think she would have at least sent a letter?!" He stood up, his eyes seeming to hold fire within them.
"If she was alive do you think she'd be as careless as to leave her son and husband on their own without ever letting them know she's okay?"
"Hey, Keith, calm down. It's not her fault..." Lance said, trying to calm Keith down.
"Keith, I...I know how you feel, but we have to have hope-"
"How could you possibly know?! You met your parents, Resumi. You know what they looked like. They weren't taken by some aliens who placed them as close to danger as they could possibly be. How could you honestly think that I have any bit of hope left?"
"I...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Please, forgive me." Resumi used the bit of strength she had to stand up and turn to the door. "Please excuse me..."
"Resumi..." Pidge called out to her.
"Please?" With one last look, Resumi was out of the room. Pidge quickly turned to Keith.
"What the hell was that, Keith?! How could you say that to her?!"
"Pidge, please calm down." commanded Shiro.
"No! Keith, her parents have a higher chance of being dead than your mom!"
"How would you know?! She was out in space fighting against a tyrant, Pidge!"
"Your mom is a highly trained soldier! Do you really think that sending inexperienced soldiers into battle would in any way benefit them?! Resumi's family was cruel enough to separate her from her family and treat her as a servant for half of her life, Keith! Do you know what that's like?! Can you tell me what it's like to be treated like an animal by your own family?! She lived through all of that and still refused to prove you wrong. Compared to her, you're nothing but a coward!" And with that, Pidge ran out of the room in order to console her new and broken friend.
"That was cold, Keith." Hunk stated.
"It really was. Are you okay, Keith?" asked a concerned Lance.
Keith didn't say anything and instead looked down at his feet.
"I... I just need some time." He stepped out, hoping to find Pidge and Noemi so he could apologize.

    "Why did I do that?"
