Draco's P.O.V
I dashed up the stairs heading for my new room with adrenaline coursing through my veins. I can't believe Mcgonagall granted me my own room, even if it was near the Gryffindorks. There isn't a word to describe how scared I was when I showed her my scars, her and Potter are now the only ones who know of my scars. Tomorrow Miss Pomfrey will be added to the list of those who know my plight.
I rounded the corner and came to the portrait of Emily Rome, she was dressed in traditional robes and was holding a small kitten. She had beautiful, long brown hair and hazel eyes that were so sharp they could cut diamonds, she was actually quite pretty despite the fact that I am not attracted to girls. Her portrait background was a potions lab and she had an amethyst necklace draped around her neck. The kitten in her arms was fluffy and had pure black fur and pale emerald eyes, it was quite cute for a cat.
"Hello!" I called, Emily's head whipped around and her sharp eyes seemed to see through my cloak as I walked up to her.
"You must be the new occupant of the tower that Minerva told me about." She stated in a silky yet firm voice, I shook my head and she smiled politely. The kitten in her lap mewled at her and she gently placed it on the floor inside the portrait.
"I apologize for the noise my dear kitten Leah might make. She tends to fuss in quite a loud manner when she is denied attention." Emily said, looking at me apologetically.
"It really isn't a issue Ms.Rome" I replied with a forced smile, I am not particularly fond of cats.
"May I have the password?" Emily inquired, sitting back down in the portrait.
"Yes, it is pulchra Leo " I said, Emily nodded and let me in. I found myself standing in a short spiral staircase that led to a beautiful dark oak door. I opened the door to a beautiful room, the walls were black and had swirling silver designs on them, the floor was solid oak and there was a fireplace next to a window with a reading nook. There was a black table in the corner, two white chairs with black and silver pillows, a white couch with a black throw blanket, and finally a white bearskin rug in front of the fireplace.
It was obvious that the room was themed to black white and silver so as not to revel the occupant's house. There was a hall down to the right, so I entered and saw a door on the end of the hall and on the right and left sides, they were all dark oak like the entrance. I opened the door at the end to find a spacious bathroom with a full bath, sink and toilet. I opened the door to the right and found a nice bedroom with my possessions already inside. There was a king size bed, a desk for work and a closet, it was very nice. The door on the left of the hall lead to a private potions room. My jaw hit the floor when I saw it had a fully stocked ingredients cupboard, custom silver cauldron and every single potions apparatus you could dream of, distilleries, filters, and many others.
It was truly an amazing room that I had been given and the icing on the cake was the extra high ceilings. Finally somewhere I could stand and not hit my head!! Tonight has been the best evening I have had in a long time. I had a real meal, got a new room and met a very kind portrait, so what if I hit my head on every single doorway? This had still been a wonderful evening and I feel happier than I ever have before. I flopped down into my large bed that perfectly accommodated my large body and drifted off into a peaceful sleep. Completely unaware of what was coming in the next couple of weeks.
