CASSIE'S POV
"Becca, since you left, there was only me and Jason. I was with him all the time, going to Harvey's, doing our homeworks, even pranking Mrs Anna with fake cockroaches."
"What? How could you-"
"Long story. But it was really funny, you should have seen her face, B. My stomach was hurt so bad from laughing."
I remember how Jason held my hand and ran away when we heard Mrs Anna's yelling. I knew it was a bad plan, since Mrs Anna is the scariest among all teachers. But she didn't find out it was us. That's all that matters.
"Hahaha you guys are such a badass."
"It would be so much fun with you, B. I'm sure of it." I hear a sigh coming out of her mouth.
"Alright badass Cassie. Now continue the story."
"So.. you know. He's always been there for me."
With a gulp, I continue, "And.. as the time goes by, I know this is maybe surprising.. But I kinda develop some feelings for him. Crazy, huh?"
"What?!"
"Yeah I know this is awkward but-"
"Cassie! I knew you both are going to be a couple!" Becca says in excitement.
"No, Becca. I'm not sure if he has the same feelings because when he cares about me or when he always keeps me accompany, he does it because he's my bestfriend."
"Cassie, you and Jason are so into each other. I'm sure he feels the same thing about you. I can see it." Becca assures me.
Maybe she's right. Or maybe she's not. I don't know? I don't want this feelings pull us apart because of the awkwardness. I just wanna be with him, even just as a bestfriend.
Being with him is the only thing I want. Nothing else.
Then it hit me. Something that gave me so much pain lately.
"But what happened a few days ago told me to back off. Now I don't even know how to face him."
"Wait what? God Cassie, you keep on surprising me. Spill it out."
Until now, I still can't believe what I saw that night. In the past months I've been spending my time with him, going out, watching movies, even celebrating the New Year together.
I started to feel that maybe, he also has the same feelings. Especially when he told me that he wanted to say something at Monica's birthday party. I even thought that he would ask me out on a date or anything.
Yeah, maybe I put my hopes up too high.
Maybe bestfriends will always be bestfriends.
