JASON'S POV
Strange.
Yeah that's all I know. I have never felt so left out. It feels like I don't know what I don't even know. I've been so clueless.
When I saw her face, the sadness was all written on it. I've never seen her like this, not after her mom's death 4 years ago.
Cassie, all this time that I've known her, is the one with a cute smile on her face. Her smile brings the happiness to everyone. And now how I hope things will never change. Her face seems dull without that cute smile.
I'm perfectly sure that Cassie didn't pay any attention to the class. And that was her favorite class. I also couldn't concentrate with her like acting like this. What was that all about?
"JC, what's on your mind?"
Stacey's voice drags me back to reality. I'm still at school's cafetaria with her and her two friends, Laura and Caleb. I don't even realize how long I've been here, or how long I've been apart with Cassie to be exact.
It's just weird for me not to be with her, since we're always together. Even we're much closer when Becca left both of us.
It's Wednesday which means it's been 4 days that she didn't talk to me. This is frustrating. We were never mad to each other. Not even once. If she's on her period, she wouldn't go this far.
I have to talk to her. How long will she act like this? I have promised Becca to always take care of her. There must be something. There must be reasons behind her silence.
"I need to go."
"What? Jason! Where are you going?"
I walk out of the cafetaria's door in a rush. Stacey is following me but I don't bother to look back.
"Is this about Cassie?" She yelled. With a sigh, I stop and look back to see her.
She steps closer and slowly reaches my face, places her right hand on my left cheek.
"Jason, everything's going to be okay. She told us not to worry about her. Maybe she needs time for herself."
I look at her with confusion. How could she think that it's going to be okay? How could it be so easy for her to say that? It's been days and it's not the usual Cassie that I know. Stacey acts as if nothing happened, which makes her look kind of suspicious.
"So what do you think we should do? Just stay here and do nothing?"
"We'll figure it out, Jase. Stay calm, okay? Let's go. Don't think about her too much." She said with a smile. Stacey has always been kind to us, but this time I think she's hiding something.
"Do you know what happened? What makes her that way?"
"Jase, only God knows why she's like that. Let's go back inside." She assured me.
I feel like Stacey is trying to stop me from seeing Cassie. She's getting more suspicious right now.
"Let me go. I'm going to her house."
