Awaken the Beast Inside: Ichigo's POV

"KARIN!!!" I turned my head to see that the scream came from (Y/n).

Damn it!

"(Y/N), STAY BACK!!" I yelled before charging at the monster holding my little sister, grabbing a chair along the way, I tried to hit it, but was quickly smacked away.

"ICHIGO!!" I heard (Y/n) yell.

In the back ground I heard that weird girl say, "No! Stop, I'll handle this!"

Why is this happening?

"I found you!" The monster said as it charged at me. Luckily I was able to move out of the way just in time as it punched at me. The short girl cut the monster's arm making it howl in pain and drop Karin. I was about to leap into action when (Y/n) ran past me catching Karin and cushioning her fall with her own body. When (Y/n) hit the ground a loud and sickening pop rang in my ears.

No!

"Karin! (Y/n)!" I ran over to them as quickly as I could while the beast disappeared right before my eyes. But I had more important things to worry about. "No!" (Y/n) was holding tightly onto Karin and wincing at the obvious pain she felt from hitting the pavement.

"Don't worry, they'll be alright. The ghoul left without devouring any of their blood." I was snapped out of my thoughts by this.

"Are you sure?" I asked unsure of her statement.

"Yes. It's seeking a specific person's blood to feast on, one with a higher concentration of spirit energy. In fact, the ghoul from earlier was hungry for that blood too, not the girl's energy."

What does that mean?

"Why?" I asked needing answers.

"For some reason, your spirit energy was hidden deep within you until now when you needed it to save your sister. That's why I didn't sense anything unusual about you when I arrived. It also explains why ghouls haven't come after you. The spirit energy you have bottled up inside you started to pour out probably when you made contact with that young girl's ghost, as a result, those two ghouls detected your blood through that girl and used her to track it down. Which means... the ghouls are really after you."

No. That means...

"Those things want me?"

"Ichigo... what's going on? What was that thing?" (Y/n) asked grabbing my full attention.

"It was a ghoul and I know you have a lot of questions, but I think that thing is coming back!" I said right before a loud, piercing howl rang through the air.

"You've gotta be kinding me. What the hell is that thing?" (Y/n) asked in horror as it reappeared.

"It's back! Get out of here!" The vampire girl yelled.

I can't!

"No!" I yelled getting up. "So the vicious attacks on that poor girl are because of me?"

Why?

"That's one way to look at it."

Why is this happening to us?

"And now both of my sisters and (Y/n) might end up dead and the whole thing is my fault?" I paused before grunting in anger and running at the ghoul.

No. Not why. How?

"Ichigo, no!" I heard (Y/n) Tell behind me.

How do I kill it?

"Stop!" The raven haired girl yelled.

How do I stop it from hurting anyone else? From hurting my family? From hurting (Y/n)? (Y/n). I have to protect them. I have to protect her.

"Coward! If it's my blood you want come and get it! Fight me one on one, you ugly bastard!" My words only seemed to piss it off as it howled and charged at me.

Leave them alone!

"NOOOOO!!!" (Y/n) screamed.

It'll be ok, (Y/n).

Before the ghoul clamped its jaw around me, the pure blood girl took the blow.

"Pure blood!" I exclaimed in shock.

"You... are a fool. How could you have possibly have thought you were any match for a ghoul? Did you really think that everything would be over if you gave it your blood. One person's blood doesn't satisfy them for long. If you don't stop interfering we're all going to end up as its food!"

The ghoul howled again in pain as blood poured out of it's mask-like face.

"I'm too injured to fight. Do you... want to... save... your family? The vampire struggled to speak.

Do you even need to ask?

"Of course I do! If there's a way then tell me how."

"You must become a vampire yourself."

"What?"

"You must let me bite you, then drink some of my blood so that I can transfer my powers to you... Unfortunately I can't guarantee that you will live. But if it doesn't work it won't matter."

"Then do it, pure blood." I said as I got down on my knees in front of her and pulled down the collar of my school uniform.

"Wait, Ichigo-! It's coming back again!" (Y/n) yelled in terror at the beast.

Its ok, (Y/n). I won't let anything hurt you. I promise.

"My name is Rukia. Rukia Kuchiki." She said before she bit into my neck making me cringe at the slight pain. When she pulled back Rukia cut her wrist with her claw and held it out to me.

"And my name is Ichigo Kurosaki!" I took her wrist and drank the spilling blood.

There was a sudden blinding white light and I could feel the power racing through my veins. Faster than I've ever moved before I cut the ghoul's arm off as the change took hold of my body.

"Ichigo...?" I heard (Y/n) whisper, yet the word sounded to clear, as if she were right next to me.

I can't let that thing get her. Not her.

"This ends now!" I yelled, but the voice that came out of my mouth wasn't my own. It was almost demonic.

As the ghoul and I charged at each other it tried to step on me. I cut off its leg causing it to howl and fall towards me.

"You will pay the price for hurting my family you ghoul scum. Feel the wrath of my power!" I yelled before slicing the ghoul straight down the center with my new found claws.

The ghoul howled one last time as it vanished into thin air again, but this time I'm sure its gone for good.
