Daughter of a Magizoologist

**Chapter 3**

                                                                  Cassie's P.O.V

I woke up the next day to someone shaking me awake. I groggily sit up half asleep.

"Was the time?" I ask slurred.

Someone beside me laughs and I slowly turn myself to see a smiling Newt.

"Morning to you too! The time is time for you to get up!" he says.

"5 more minutes" I say about to lay back down but Newt holds my back so I can't lay down. I groan.

"Come on sleepy head! Do you know what day it is?" he asks me.

"Is it the day where I sleep to 10 in the morning?" I ask.

"No it isn't. I'm quite surprised you've forgotten what day it is. It's your birthday!" He says excitedly.

"Ok then can I-" I then realise what he just said and sit right up "It's my birthday?" I ask excitedly.

"Yes it is!" He replies giving me a big grin.

I quickly jump out of bed and start dancing around the room.

"It's my birthday. It's my birthday. It's my-" I get cut off.

"You do realise I'm still here don't you?" Newt says and I turn around to face Newt and put a big smile on my face.

"Yep" I say popping the 'p'.

"Ok just wondering. Anyways come on your mum's downstairs waiting for you!" Newt says.

"Ok" I say as I grab Newt and run down the flights of stairs making Newt trip a few times.

As we get down the last few steps, my mum comes out of the kitchen and says "Happy Birthday" to me.

"Come and open your presents then. You even have an extra one from Newt!" she says.

I follow her into the living room and in there were 5 presents all wrapped neatly in 5 different colours: Yellow, red, blue, light green and gold. I start opening my mums presents first and get some books, new clothes, a new first aid kit for the creatures that I find, a first aid kit for myself and a Phoenix plushy. As soon as I had finished opening my mums presents I say a quick "thank you" to her before I go over to Newts present and start opening it. This present was the one wrapped in the yellow wrapping. As the unwrapping came to an end there was a medium sized box with airholes on it. I carefully lifted the lid up and gasped as I saw what was inside.

A Bowtruckle!  

I quickly put the lid on the floor and I get the Bowtruckle out. It started roaming around my body looking for a destination. Finally it decided to sleep in my hair. I slowly got up and went over to Newt and gave him a hug.

"Thanks so much, Newt!"I say.

"It's alright!" he says with a big smile.

"What's its gender?" I ask.

"He's a male" he replies "What are you going to call him?"

I think for a while before I reply with...

"Twiggy"

"Twiggy? Really?" mum says.

"Uh huh!" I reply.
