Natalie walked down the gleaming corridors of her new school. It was so different to everywhere else she had been before. It seemed...nice!
Her first lesson was science, she walked through the door and had a quick conversation with her teacher before she was sat down next to a girl called Sarah. She nodded as if to say hello and opened her text book.
When the lesson was over she packed her books away in her bag and started to walk out when she heard someone shout her.
“Natalie! It is Natalie right?” The girl grinned at her. It took Natalie a couple of seconds to realize it was Sarah, the girl she'd been sat next to for the last hour.
“Yeah, call me Nat,” Natalie replied, she hated her name.
“Okay Nat, well you've got English now and you're walking completely the wrong way, want me to take you?” Laughed Sarah.
“Sure, I have no idea where I'm going yet!” Natalie laughed back.
They walked together through the school and finally arrived at their lesson. In English she was sat next to Katie, who was sat next to Sarah. Katie was Sarah's best friend and also seemed eager to get to know Nat.
Natalie took about ten minutes to explain to the two girls she was originally from London, but she moved to Melbourne because her mother got a new job out here. She left her first school because she was bullied and she was kicked out of her second for fighting a girl she saw bullying another girl.
“You we're kicked out?!” Gasped Katie.
“Yeah, I hated it there anyway,” Natalie shuddered.
Just then there was a bang as the door flew open and a boy doubled over with laughter fell into the room.
“BEAU BROOKS!” Screeched the teacher, “How DARE you turn up half way through my lesson!”
“Sorry miss, I was a bit...Busy,” Beau managed to get out through tears of laughter.
“Well at least you actually turned up today, please sit down Mr. Brooks.”
Natalie turned to see what was going on, to see a boy, who was clearly Beau Brooks. He had brown hair which fell over his eyes. He had the same eyes at Nat, piercing and green. He pulled out the seat next to her and stuffed his headphones into his ears once the teacher had turned around.
“If that what all the boys here look like,” Natalie thought to herself, “I'm sure as hell gonna enjoy Penola.”
