August 12
Snow insisted that we went to orientation together.
We splintered from the boys to get our schedules first, while they stood in the winding line for textbooks. Though, neither of us complained about the break.
Being around her made me feel normal, happy.
How you used to make me feel.
She knew it, too. Her smile on her face always seemed to shine a little brighter when she noticed the frown on mine.
On the way to the office, Snow suggested taking the shortcut between the buildings.
I knew what we'd pass on the way there. You and I took that shortcut everyday. I knew Snow and I would walk straight through a memory.
I didn't know we'd walk straight into you.
And her.
Snow's brilliant blues darted between you, the girl, and me. I saw the gears turning, struggling to put the pieces together. From your frozen expression, to the girl's unbothered, to my terrified.
I expected her to say something about the scene, but instead, she grabbed my arm and dragged me through the opposite building.Right past the two of you.
For the first time in months, I felt the panic in my chest lift.
