August 30
Snow figured out what happened between us. Given the amount of rumors that spread about me, it wasn't difficult to guess.
I told her the full story anyway, including what happened not long after you left.
When I finished, I saw an expression on her face that was unlike her. I've never seen someone so furious.
She bordered on Chief's reaction, kept at bay by Mikey's sympathy and Holland's intelligence. She was a mix of my favorite people.
Excluding you.
Snow ordered that everything, every last thing, that belonged to you would go. The old hoodies, random things left during sleepovers, and of course, your lucky bracelet.
My room looked empty without you in it. My wrist felt bare, my body cold. But amongst the emptiness, shining like the sun, sat Snow.
She kept me calm while I drove to your house, a route I'd memorized since childhood. It felt as normal as driving to my own house.
But I knew this was the last time.
I was finally letting you go.
