Connections-

{The Very Next Day}

The fire in front of us was beautiful. I always appreciated the tiniest things, and felt admired by the way the fire sparked every once in a while. I was sitting on the sand, with my head on Harry's lap. Every once and a while he would stroke my blonde hair with his huge hands of his.

"So, I think that I deserve an apology..." Harry says, as it was the very first thing we said since he revealed that I was in a coma.

I sigh, "I'm sorry" My eyes look back to the fire. "I never knew that you actually cared about me that way, did you try to give me water while I was out?" Harry looks at the direction that my eyes are on.

"Yeah. It was hard though, but I made sure that you had water" He smiles a bit, "You like fires, don't you?"

I nod, "I love nature, I love art...I guess that I'm easily impressed" I answer, looking at the bracelet in my palms. Harry looks at it too.

"So what's with the bracelet?" He asks, suddenly curious. I frown for a second. But then I remember that I never really told him about it. I just snatched it from his hands, and started to cry holding it when he showed me the bracelet.

"Umm...Before the crash, I gave bracelets to my family-all exactly alike- from the vacation we were at. To, you know, remember about it and all" Harry looks at me, as I kept mine at the bracelet. My thumb rubbed against the blood on it, trying to wash it away.

"Oh...I'm sorry" I look up at him, forcing a smile.

"It's ok, it's not your fault" curiosity got to me. I wondered why Harry was screaming out to Niall. Why he was always so quiet about his personal life. What exactly happened when I was in the coma. Why Harry was pretty beat when I saw him yesterday morning...

"Hey, Harry?" I ask, looking back to the fire.

"Yeah?" He looks down at me once again.

"Why do you care about me so much?" I think back to when I first met him. Out of a hundred people hurt and helpless, he chose me to save.

"I can't really describe that. It's like why chocolate makes you happy, I can't answer that" I nod.

"Why me, Harry?" I ask again.

"Why do you keep on asking questions?" I shrug my shoulders. I guess that I'm a curious child, but the way Harry looked at me, he was actually glad that I am. "Well what do you mean by that?"

"Out of hundreds of wounded people lying there, you decided that it was me you had to save" Flashes come back to me. The pain, the crash, the burning scent of flesh...everything.

"Well, I kinda felt drawn to you. It was almost as if that there were two roads, and one of them was the right one. Abigale, you were the right road." I blush a bit.

"Abby"

"Ha ha, ok then" It was quiet between us two. "But, if I hadn't of saved you, I would have been lonley, hurt, and worried sick about the lads. I just don't think that I could deal with all of that alone" I nod slowly, looking up to the sky.

"Thank you Harry. Seriously, I don't think that I would have had survived without you. I can't stop thinking about me being dead, and my family wondering where my body is" I think about where my family could be right at this moment. Are they dead? I know that one of them are.

"No problem. When you were in that coma, I vowed to myself that I was going to protect you at all costs. I wanted to make sure that you find your family...I want you to be ok" I smile at him, as he smiled back. I knew that I felt a step closer to him.
