A Real Gem (Gumi X Rin)

Our First Date

Hello ! It's been a while but I finally updated, this chapter was also finished but I decided to go edited it and finally finished it off, so without here's the second last chapter of 'A Real Gem' !

Also fun fact: One of the chapter that I wrote wasn't published even though it was ? I don't know if I edited it and then forgot to republished it. I have a feeling it was that or Wattpad messed up.

The today was a day I dream of and never thought it would come true:

A date with Rin.

Even just thinking about it made me want to smile.

'I need to calm down, after all its just a date...... what do you do on a first date ?' Then a sudden realization hit me like a double Decker bus going 100mph.

'Oh god ! I asked Rin out and I don't even know how to go further !? What kind of idiot am I !?'

I had no idea how to make this a great date or if Rin would fall in love with me, I mean that's the goal right ? Oh god, I'm a complete idiot. There spark was there between us the last time we saw each other, now I need to make a fire out of that.

"GUMI ! ARE YOU HAVING DINNER HERE OR WITH RIN ?" geez, he didn't need to shout, my room was right next to the kitchen.

I went out to Chichi, who was in our small kitchen, cooking dinner for him and Okasan. Chichi had a strange love for cooking, because of this the kitchen was always clean. Chichi was chopping away with knife that Okasan got him for one of his birthday.

The black marble top counters had a bit of a mess and some of the mess, somehow had found it ways on the floor and on the sole of my shoes, could he not have told me ?

"GUMI !- oh there you are..." Chichi stared at me, suddenly he looked away and then asked ".....you okay ? I mean, you're all red in the face." I was stun, was all this dating stuff really frying my brain ?

"Um I'm fine.... I just need to ask you something." I told him, he raised his right eyebrow and in a  half angry, half concern face. "Well you know you can ask me anything. Though if a girl issue, maybe -"

"No ! No! It's...a more of a guy one actually." I cut in. I could see his right eyebrow twitched.

"Well then, what's the problem ?"

I thought for an second on how I want this to sound. "How do I make this date a success ? I have no idea what I should wear or anything." I said clearly worried.

Then, Chichi stopped, it was like time was frozen and the Okasan came....

"GUMI GOING ON A DATE ! MY LITTLE GIRL IS ALL GROW UP !"

"Okasan please....."

"Don't 'please' me !" She said as she hugged me and swung me around. "Wait, does that mean you and Rin are going out ? As in..." Chichi was slowly putting the pieces together.

"Uh, yeah." I said nervously, looking away. "Well, you could've picked worst." Chichi mumbled.

Okasan finally put me down and stated, "well I think Rin is a lovely girl.". I smiled at her and thanked her. I knew Okasan would love Rin, so no surprise there.

"Anyway, what's the plan ? Where are you too going ?" Okasan asked excited for our first date. "Um....I think she said about going to a lake. I can't remember." I answered nervously, looking for my phone. Then I searched for the text and finally found it.

"Yeah, see.... she said it not far from our place." I showed her the text. Okasan giggle, I gave her a confused look.

"What ?"

"Oh Gumi !....that's where we went for our first date and we went there after you were born, with you of course."

Chichi stared at the text and smiled. "At least that midget has taste." He said proudly, "I picked that place as our first date you know."

"No Dear you didn't, I remember your Okasan telling us about it and you said 'Who wants to go to a lake for a date ?', remember ?" Okasan said in a sly voice. Chichi glared at her before continuing to cook.

"Anyway, Gumi dear there's no need to worry just be you and you'll be fine, oh and buy flowers too !" Okasan then began to ramble on how to make the date perfect, I'm starting to regret this.

I stood at Wilson's lake, waiting for the beautiful blonde to show up, I look a little weird with these flowers, even people are giving me weird looks, 'Come on Rin !' , just as I had thought this the young blonde appear.

I wish you could've seen Rin because she was just so cute, She wore a soft-looking pink jumper that look a bit too big, a small brown handbag, black jeans and black leather boots. Sh also wore a light bit of make-up and this embarrassed smile on her face.

I walked over to her, She glanced at me then at the flowers and quickly looked away. "Those are lovely Gumi, where did you get them ?" She whispered, stilling looking away, I looked at the flowers then back at her, oh right the flowers I forgot about them.

"I bought them off the nearby florist, sorry their not great I know."

"No, no, there great !" Rin beamed and sacked them off me.  I was a little surprised and stood there, watching Rin walk ahead of me.

"God, She's beautiful."

  "Uh Gumi, you coming ?"

"Oh yeah ! Sorry coming !"

"Your gonna laugh at me" Rin said as we strolled around the lake. I look at her and raise my eyebrow at her. Rin opened her bag and pulled out some bread.

I couldn't help but laugh, "I know, I know but I wanted to feed the ducks !" Rin protested and I shook my head to stop myself from laughing.

"I think it's a great idea."

So there we were feeding the ducks, eventually turning into a throwing contest to see who throw the farthest until I hit the swan with a piece of bread. "Oh no." I said as the swan angrily came towards us.

"Run !" and so we ran out of the lake as the swan chased us.

"I can't believe it !" Rin said as we walked to the bus stop, it was now dark and we decided to head home.

"I know, I thought you would've thrown the flowers at it to slow it down."

"No way ! I would never hurt an animal like that besides." She paused as she blushed.

"You got me those flowers."

Who knew certain words would make your heartbeat increase ? I was so focus on my heartbeat that I hadn't even realize that I grabbed Rin's hand.

Rin looked at me and I looked at her before we both smiled.

"Do you want to come back to my house ? We can get pizza, Len and mom aren't home too." Rin said shyly and I could help back lean down but kiss her cheek.

"I would love to."

And there you go, I finally finished this chapter ! This isn't the end though, there's one more chapter and then the story is finished.
