two years prior

can you feel the way your face distorts, did you think it could be this way?

An old white building loomed on the outskirts of a small city, eerie and eaten by the trees.

The people who have come across it tell stories of the voices and the things they hear coming from the forest sourrounding building.

Tall tales told at teenage sleepovers, whispers in the media and rumors in the hallways. All of it stayed as myth, a thriller on a friday night.

What really happened in the white building was beyond a child's nightmare, the tinted walls only enough to keep out most of the sounds.

Humans are civilized, and tamed. But what scientists wanted to know was what was we held behind those quiet genetics.

And one day, in the city, twenty-five of the homeless and begging citizens on the street had vanished into the white building.

Nobody said anything because it had gone unoticed, as if they weren't there in the first place.

There were only few whispers on the street and rumors at clubs.

And inside those quiet tinted walls, the scientists began experiments; curious minds tipping too much into the bottle.

For the those taken into the mysterious building, it was an entirely new and treacherous life.

The doctors and scientists only had one deal; to search further into human genetics and make discovery. And they definitely discovered something.

But it was less of discovery, and more of what they turned them into.

Bloodshot eyes, nails like thorns on a rose, snarling and growling. Sharp teeth and everything imaginable as the monster under your bed. The barely human creatures could only seem like what they used to be; they wore a disguise as their old self in order to be calm.

Needles and pricks triggered the "discovery", venoms and other solutions the doctors had made.

Ten of them died during the experiments, giving a grand total of fifteen successful ones.

Monsters aren't born; they're made.
-

Monsters are like mutated humans; smarter, quicker, but reckless.

Pills that turned the walls to water and switched the roof upsidedown is what unlocked the tiny safe in the back of their brains. It released chaos and pure monstrous manner. This safe could be locked and unlocked by the doctor and scientist's vigorous wanting.

Only months later after the experiments were successful, they had escaped along with a huge supply of money. Off into the city they ventured, carrying a dark weight inside of them that they'd keep locked.

Freedom; it was like a firework exploding into the sky, branching out into clouds and falling right to home.

Most of the retired experiments had gotten jobs and roommates to live with; setting off into flight of a new life. No longer chained down, or poked with needles and choking down on pills.

Inside the old white building, the scientists and doctors frantically searched; and even made an attempt to send out the police who strained back due to their lack of right to have any action within the scientist's monstrous program.

    The case was lost.

And the fireworks that held a cage inside of them were free.
