Even though Mia and I broke up over two weeks ago, I still wasn't over her parting words. No, not the fact that she was breaking up with me because that was a dream come true, but the part where she said that she'd only dated me to stop Darcie from having me. What the hell did she mean by that?

While I was caught up in deciphering Mia's words, my friends were all thrilled that I was rid of Mia. Owen, especially, was happy because now he wasn't the only single one in the group. I frowned at hearing that because it meant that Ritchie had a girlfriend and his girlfriend was probably Darcie. My Darcie.

Not that anything had been confirmed. At school, they rarely hung out because Darcie was constantly with Lauren and outside school, she was forever at the dance studio, working on something with Ryker, Harlan's boyfriend. How can you date someone and not hang out with them?

It was really difficult to pin Darcie down these days and I didn't like that. I kept texting her, asking if we could hang out- platonically- but she kept coming back to me, telling me she was busy.

"I feel like I'm single, too," Harlan whines. "Ryker is so focused on this recital of theirs that I'm being pushed aside. Ritchie, do you feel the same with Darcie?"

Ritchie shrugged his shoulder. "We're not even dating so the point is moot. But yeah, the recital is taking over her life at the moment. Thank God that the showcase is on Saturday."

"Well, at least you get to be part of the rehearsal every now and then," Harlan continues, his face looking more and more decidedly unimpressed. "How do you get to sit in on their rehearsals but I don't? It's so unfair. I want to see them dance."

"Then wait for the showcase and you'll get to see them dance," Ritchie announces, his voice rather smug. "Plus, I have a talent that you don't have so I am indispensable in their rehearsals."

Owen scoffed. "The only talent you have is being able to charm girls into bed."

"Needless to say, that is not the talent I use in the dance studio," Ritchie laughed. Suddenly becoming serious, he says, "That talent is on the back burner anyhow."

"So, you and Darcie-"

"Just friends," Ritchie says, cutting Owen off. I see the way his gaze shifts to me before quickly snapping away. "Her head is all over the place at the moment."

With those words, the conversation ends and the atmosphere becomes really tense. Owen and Harlan both avoid looking in my direction but I know they both think that I'm the reason why she isn't with Ritchie, and maybe in a way, I am. Maybe she isn't over me and I still have a chance. But before we get to that point, there's still one thing I need to clarify- what exactly did Mia mean when she said that she only dated me to stop Darcie from having me?

Pulling my cell from my pocket, I compose a text and send it to Darcie.

We need to talk. I know you're busy and you probably don't want to see me but please, it's important.

Seconds later, my phone pings. Dance studio. Tonight at 8.
