I was awakened by the sound of knocking on the door. It's 8:30 AM who in the heck is it!?I sat up and slipped my flip flops on and ran downstairs. I opened the door and it was my uncle Ruben, I had forgotten he was gonna bring my car today.

"Hey, Ruben! Thank you sooo much for bringing my car today, I totally forgot!" I hugged him with gratitude.

"No problem." He giggled "Well I got to go to work, call me if you need anything." He said as he drove off on his tow truck.

I locked the door and ran back upstairs to get ready, I pulled on some navy skinny jeans and put on a white blouse. I brushed my hair and put it in a braid.

I dragged a folding chair from the room next door and set it in the middle of the empty room. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a turquoise pocket notebook and a pencil and began to design what I wanted the empty room to look like. A studio came to mind. Desk room/studio. I can have my music stuff in this room.

I stroked the pencil across the page. Circles. Lines. Squares. Pencil shavings ran across the floor. The drawing was coming to an end, I stood up and touched the paint on the wall so old so dry. Every slight touch chipped the raspberry colored paint.

I picked up my backpack off the ground and swung it over my right shoulder and made a quick steady pace downstairs. Making my way into the kitchen I picked the home phone. Wanting to ask grandma if she wanted to have lunch since I was now in the same street as her, I could visit her more often. I dialed the phone rung for what seemed like forever! I called her a total of three times, no answer, now worried. I flipped the light switch off and headed to the front door and I picked up the car keys sitting on the entry table and my tan colored sweatshirt hanging on the coat stand.

I was planning on going to the hardware store for some paint and going to furnish green to pick up some furniture for the room. I was a bit worried about grandma so I thought I could stop by to see if she's okay, then maybe have lunch together. I opened the door to my orange 1964 Ford Ranchero and sat in the driver's seat. I turned the key and got the car starting. An oldie but a goody, this car has had 2 first place prizes at some car shows.

The engine roared, I pulled out of the driveway and onto the road. I made a sharp turn into grandma's driveway. Grandma said we lived in a pretty "safe" part of town but I couldn't take any risks so I locked the car door before taking a single step on grandma's porch.

I knocked her door a few times. She opened the door though the look in her eyes seemed like she was surprised to see me. In fact she didn't even invite me in and she kept the door just slightly opened.

"Is everything okay? I called a few times to see if you wanted to have lunch but you didn't answer. I was gonna ask if you wanted to get some lunch with me." I said in a confused tone trying to peek over her shoulder to see what she was hiding.

Her face puzzled... no answer

"Is she the one you were talking about? Gaby, was it?" I heard a man's voice. Raspy voice. I looked over her shoulder realized a man her age about some 70 some. His skin was dark,he was tall and had little or no hair at all.

"Um...hello---?" I stopped, for I did not know his name.

"Brian, Brian Dunbar." All I could think of was what was he doing here and what is he to grandma?

"He's, he's my f-friend." The tone in her voice was a little off. Lie? He leaned his arm on her shoulder and smiled at her.

"Well I need to gooo to the store..." No wonder grandma never answered she was "busy" with her "friend" the way he was looking her said everything and I felt bothered by it an awkward moment...

"So you were saying, lunch?" Those words left her mouth. This time I had no answer I just didn't want to disturb the possibility that grandma has finally found someone to make her happy again. I'm not feeling the 3rd wheeling much.

"No, nothing really. You two have fun, see you later." I made my way into the car. Not able to look up at first.

I drove to the hardware store and picked up a bucket of porcelain white paint. I left the hardware store and bought some furniture at furnish green. On my way back home I picked up my lunch at White Castle a mini burger and some coke made the cut.

I pulled up in the driveway of my house, the sun was still up. I walked up to the door and realized a basket of cookies with a big red bow tied around it and read the card: from neighbors. That's it!? From neighbors? What neighbors they could have elaborated just a little bit, I would thank them...if I knew who they were from.

I took the basket of cookies,my food and the other stuff I bought, inside the house. I threw my sweatshirt on the couch and carried the paint bucket and my dinner upstairs.

I chipped the old paint off the wall and began adding the new one turning my wrist back and forth getting every last bit of the room. My arm began to hurt but I was already done painting. I took a glance at the clock 2:49 PM. I finished my lunch and decided to take a shower and get my things ready for Juilliard tomorrow.

I hopped into the shower and slipped into something cozy, my pink hoodie and some black shorts, I pulled my hair up in a ponytail. I went into the bedroom and started packing more things in the backpack, pencils and notepads and some other things. I finished up and went to check if the paint was dry so I can start moving in furniture.

I hauled a chair upstairs but couldn't even get the desk to move man I'm weak. I called uncle Ruben, he should be off work already.

Ruben arrived and help me get the desk upstairs.

"Thanks."I said. The words echoed through the empty room.

"No problem, it was a piece of cake. Grandma called me asking for some help, something about the kitchen sink so I stopped by on my way. Gotta go and good luck with tomorrow, your parents must be proud."He said.

"Yes they are I need to call them and tell them how it's going.I've just been so busy."I sighed."Bye,Ruben."

"Bye Gaby, tell the family hi for me!"He left.

I was decorating the room now that the furniture was in, adding picture frames and setting my guitar down. I closed the curtains. The room, officially complete...

I was so exhausted but it turned out really great!

I was so exhausted but it turned out really great!

I wasn't so hungry for dinner so I picked up a Gala apple and a book and headed to my room. Hamlet. The word on the pages flowed through my head like music in my ears. I need rest for tomorrow, Juilliard. I set my alarm clock and shut my eyes thinking deeply of the words that were written in the book, they slowly put me to sleep...

A/N: For in that sleep of death what dreams may come~HAMLET
