Diamond POV
It was going on 1 o'clock in the morning and I still sat in the waiting room of the hospital. The doctor in charge of her surgery came out an hour ago saying she coded during surgery but were able to bring her back and that she lost a lot of blood and needed a transplant. I couldn't get in touch with her mom but Jason, Rebecca and Ariana were here. King and Cruz came but didn't stay something about business but I couldn't care less "business" was the reason Dré almost died. Lay ran through the door with her 7 month year old son, Derrick.
"Diamond how is she?" I explained everything that happened and what the doctors said. "Her mom isn't answering her phone and the only match is Ari but she cant do it since she's so young."
"I'm a match where's her doctor?" I took Derrick from her as her and Jason went to talk to a doctor. Lay's son was so cute I had babysat for her a few times and he was one of the best babies I've ever watched. I had no idea what happened to Anthony after Dré told me about him and Kia that night at the race I avoided her.
Of course she blew my phone up for a while and after I slapped her for lying to me about why she was here, to find out who Anthony was messing with she left. Lay never mentioned anything about it so I didn't either it wasn't my business anyway.
After getting Derrick back to sleep Lay came and tried to take him from me "he's fine he's sleeping I don't mind holding him." She nodded and sat next to me running her hands through her hair. Jason came back and gently picked up Ari and shook Rebecca awake. "We'll be back in the morning please keep me updated I'll try to get in touch with Sherry."
After they left it was quiet for a while until Lay spoke up.
"I'm glad you and Dre have each other" I looked at her and shook my head "me and Dre aren't together we're just friends." Lay made a noise and laughed softly.
"Together or not I see how y'all interact with each other and I know she loves you and you love her. I appreciate everything y'all do for me you guys are like my family you and Dre have helped me during some tough times just don't let me stand in the way of y'all getting together I told Dre the same shit y'all belong together." I listened intently at what she was saying and honestly Dre and I had talked about it the conversation just never got finished. I honestly didn't think Dre was ready to settle down.
"Where is all this coming from?" Lay shrugged "life's short and it was something I've thought about ever since I saw how much you meant to Dre. I just didn't want to share my best friend but now that I got Derrick and he keeps me plenty occupied." We laughed lightly then settled back into a comfortable silence. It was nice to hear that from Lay cause I was low-key worried that if me and Dre did get together it would be a lot of tension or drama between us or them and I didn't want that.
"Family of Andréa Chamberlain" I looked over saw the doctor from earlier. "Andréa is out of surgery we were able to get the bleeding to stop unfortunately due to the damage to her leg. She will need to go into very intense therapy and training if she wants to play again. The good news is she will retain full function of her leg within a few months."
"She will need to stay for a few weeks so we can monitor her pain level and make sure she doesn't tear her stitches and once those heal nicely she will be able to go home." We thanked him and shook his hand before gathering our things to leave I already knew they wouldn't let me stay past visiting hours unless you tell them before hand.
