Hey everyone. Thanks for making it to the end of my story.

When I wrote the first chapter of Demoralize, I was in a pretty bad spot. I had been dealing with self-harm issues for the better part of two years, and I was attempting to push those bad feelings away by writing them down. I always related to Morty because I saw my own awkwardness and paranoia in him, so I decided to use him as a character to vent with by writing a (decidedly graphic) one shot. I published it with the slim hope someone would like it. I thought that would be the end of it.

But, when I checked back up on it months later, I realized I had a few hundred reads. This honestly really shocked me. Plus, I had kind and encouraging comments saying they liked my writing. But what stood out to me was the "Write more!" that I saw more than once.

Now, years later with the entirety of Demoralize under my belt, I find myself in a much better place in life. I have dealt with the issues that plagued me and made my life better, in no small part to the motivation and validation the success of Demoralize gave me. I know it's not a huge deal, but 7k reads is astonishing to me. The amount of feedback and support I received from all of you kept me going when, sometimes, there was nothing else to look forward to. I think it's amazing, and I thank all of you so much.

If you guys take anything from this, let it be this. Things can be bad, but things can be better. Always encourage people. Stay strong and get help if you need it.

I hope you all have a wonderful day <3

Much Love,

Dean
