~Idareah, White Fang territory, 1,000 years ago~
I giggled as I ran from my sister. Today was the annual game of Hunt the wolf, and I was the target.
Hunt the wolf is a game my people had been playing since the beginning of time. It was kind of like the game humans played, Hide and seek, but in our game theirs one hider and many seekers.
I heard a twig snap behind me and looked back to see my sisters auburn wolf running at me with her tongue hanging out. I felt my heart skip a beat as I realized what I had to do. I had to shift.
My sister and I were the Alpha's daughters, meaning we could shift at ten instead of twelve like everyone else. I sprinted a few more feet before I jumped in to the air and shifted into my solid black wolf.
Running from my sister and her friends was a work out but it was worth it.
"Idareah! Niceah! The Long Fang pack are attacking! Return home immediately!" My fathers voice rang through my quiet mind causing me and my sister to falter in our game.
"sister we must return! we could be killed!" I panicked. My sister looked at me and snorted
"They would not harm us if they wanted to live to see dawn" She snarled. I shivered at the hate in my sisters voice. It made my blood run cold and freeze.
"Well I am returning. Please sister. Come with me!" I tried to beg her. I received only a horrid laugh ring through my mind before she shook her head.
I started back to my fathers palace but turned back to see my sister run off in the oppsite direction. She has been acting different as of late and I must tell my father of this.
As I ran I felt the icy wind run through my fur and the feeling of being watched. I didn't like that. It wasn't a pack member either. I could sense that much. I was being hunted, and this wolf was enjoying the chase.
"Father! I am being hunted. Near the southern border! Help me!" I was terrified but I could not let my hunter know. I kept running for a few more moments when I felt something in the air shift. I immediately stopped running and hit the ground hearing my assailant land where I should have been a moment before.
"Well well well. Look what we have here. The Alpha's daughter. You should be a perfect toy. And I will be rewarded greatly for ending your existence" The brown wolf said viciously.
"You will not touch me!" I retaliated. What he doesnt know is that my father taught Niceah and I to protect Ourselves. I was a lot more dangerious then I let on. But he would have to make the first move.
"Watch me" was all he replied before launching himself at me. I ducked in time and as he fell I jumped on his back before sinking my teeth into him.
The brown wolf howled in pain and whipped his head around nashing his teeth near my snout. I let go and jumped off of him before I went for a kill shot. I wasnt going to toy with him. The roles had been reversed. I am no longer the prey. And this wolf is no longer the hunter.
I ran at him and being a smaller wolf was my advantage. I jumped and latched my jaws on his neck. I felt his warm, sweet blood fill my jaws and run down my throat. He howled in pain and whipped around trying to knock me off, but I was not letting go. Soon enough his movements got slower and he dropped to the ground. I unhinged my jaws and stepped away from the now dead wolf. The sight was a terrible one. I had inflicted a massive wound to his throat that still bled even though the wolf was long gone.
I heard more steps running at me and I prepared myself for a fight. I wasnt going down without one. After a few moments my fathers Grey wolf burst through the thicket and looked at the wolf on the ground and to me standing off to the right. I saw nothing but pride and adoration in his Grey eyes.
