~Idareah, Europe, Dark ages, 1,000 Years ago~

*Seven years later*

The fear shook deep within me. I had been queen for seven years now. And we were being attacked. From the inside out. The royal guard was attacking the palace. Prince Rowan, Who was now king, Was nowhere to be found. And my heart ached for him. He'd gone to find our son, Henry, about an hour ago and hadn't been back since. I was terrified.

In the seven years I had been queen I had watched my son grow into an amazing man, and three years ago I had given birth to a daughter. She had her father's blue eyes, and my soft brown hair. She was also a wolf, as was I. A quality my son did not have.

"Momma, what's happening?" my daughter, Victoria, asked me. I looked into her clear blue eyes and saw not only curiousity but, fear too. It hurt to know my daughter was being subjected to such horror at such a young age. She was only three years old. Yet she had the intelligence of a six year old. She understood too much.

Suddenly the door to our hiding spot was ripped open and I looked into the worried eyes of my husband and my son. My son was fine. Thank the humans god. He quietly walked up to me and gave a grim smile.

"I'm sorry mother. I just wanted to make sure you and Victoria were safe" He said as he wrapped his arms around me. He let go and grabbed Victoria and gave her a kiss on the head. "I love you little one" he said with a smile.

I smiled and looked at my husband, Only to see a sword pierce his chest. A scream of horror and pain tore out of my throat as the sword was removed from his body. My love fell to the ground in a bloody heap, his heart just barley holding on. My eyes flashed from my husband's body to the culprit and I was met with the eyes of my husband's best friend.

"You're a monster!" I screamed in rage. I turned my back for only a second to look at my children. "Henry, no matter what happens, take care of your sister." I pleaded before slamming the door on them and turning back to the man who had started everything.

"How can you love such a pathetic family?" his voice asked me. The rage I was feeling was indescribable. Rowan might not had been my mate, but I had loved him just the same. I felt my wolf clawing my insides, begging to be released. Begging to show this man what I was truly capable of.

"You are the pathetic one! You had to be jealous that my husband is the king! You had to be angry when I showed you no intrest! You had to be jealous with my son! And then my daughter! I am going to make you pay. I am going to tear you limb from limb. I am going to make what you have done to my husband look like child's play. I am going to show you a demon" I whispered with such malice that he shivered. I felt my eyes flash and my body start to shake as I felt my wolf breaking free.

"what are you?" He asked in absolute fear as he trembled. I smiled and felt my canines poke through.

"I am your worst nightmare. And it is time for you to die" I snarled as I shifted and jumped on the man.

His screams of pain and terror were the only things in the air. The whole castle fell silent as I ripped the man apart.

I had never felt a rage like this. I had never been this angry. Never had I torn someone apart like this. It was new to me. After I had ripped his body apart I shifted back to my human self and leaned over my husband. His heart was starting to skip beats. I could hear it and it broke me apart.

"Rowan, please, don't leave" I begged as tears filled my vision. I reached out and held my husband close as his blood soaked my body. I wiped my tears as they fell down my cheeks and smeared the blood on my face. "I love you. So much" I mumbled kissing his lips.

His eyes opened and looked into mine. I saw nothing but pain and love in their depths. "I love you Arabella. I always have. From the moment I laid eyes on you. You were the girl I knew I wanted to have children with. The only one I loved. You were my light in my dark life. You made my life worth living. You gave me Henry and Victoria. You gave me everything I could've asked for and more. And for that I thank you. I love you Arabella. Never forget that" he choked out as he kissed me one last time. I watched as my love closed his eyes and took his final breath.

I choked out a sob and placed my husband's body on the floor. I looked for a dress to put on since the one I was wearing had been ripped to shreads and opened the door to where my children were hiding and smiled through the pain.

"He's gone my children. And your father is too." I choked out. "it is time for us to leave this place while we still can."

My daughter run up to me and I picked her up. She had tears in her eyes and buried her face in my neck.

"I'm staying mother." Henrys voice rang out. My eyes flashed from my daughters body to my son. "I am to be the next king. I cannot leave our people. Take Victoria and run mother. Disappear." he said with a kind voice.

My heart was breaking. I could not lose my son. "Henry come with us. I can't lose you too" I said as more tears fall down my face.

"I love you mother. I love you Victoria. But you must go. I have to stay. The people will need a leader after this. I am sorry" he said as he walked up to hug me and kiss his sister. "goodbye mother. I love you both" he added as he pushed us out of our hiding spot and into the forest.

I looked into my sons blue eyes one last time and smiled. "good luck my son. I'll always love you" I said before turning and running away from my life. I had no husband. No son. Only my daughter and I. I will do anything to protect her. Even if it means killing anyone in my way.
