Distant Misunderstanding

Then I saw it....

The girl...the one back at the canteen, is pulling Ailee's hair!

I rushed to Ailee, trying to sink in from the crowd.

When I got to Ailee , I helped her stand up.

"yah! what are you doing here? go away!" the girl yelled.

I stared at the girl...

"Yunjae, let's just go" said Ailee.

"ok then" I held Ailee. I was planning to backfire some words to the girl but it would be much more mature if I back off.

"hey, where are you going?! are you girl's too chicken to fight?" she said.

I turned around and said "nope, I thought it would be much mature for us to leave first, even if you are rich you still need to have manners." I said as calmly as I could.

"nice one" Ailee whispered close to me.

"wha-what?!" the girl yelled.

"She's right" I heard someone say.

I turned around and saw the principal standing beside us, also I realized that the crowd lessened.

"Mr choi!" the girl said.

I bowed infant of Mr ChoI a little enough to keep Ailee from falling.

"Ms Hyunjae, thank you now please take miss Ailee to the clinic and you, miss kaiji! take note that we have stick rules concerning violence and respect! Miss hyunjae is a year older than you."

"so what?" Kaiji said. So that was her name...

"and that she's my niece! do that again and I might call your father" Mr choi said then he left.

It was true, I was his niece but were not that close so I didn't treat him much like a family.

"wha?? ugh!" Kaiji left frustrated.

Ailee and I headed to the clinic after Kaiji left.

The nurse, Ms Jane, was the one I met this morning and the same person who treated ailee.

She said that Ailee was lucky enough to save her pretty face from all that hair-grabbing and slightly punching on her face. There were no wounds on her face or on her body except that her leg was sprained and that she had several scratches on her arm.

I decided to stay with Ailee even if class starts, she was the first one to confidently introduce to me after all. Gosh her right leg was wrapped in bandages so as her left arm.

when Ailee finally woke up from all her wounds, I helped her sit down.

"ailee , why were you fighting with kaiji?" she didn't answer me, she just stared at the floor

"ailee..."

"huh...." she said, I knew she was thinking of something, I couldn't get her attention.

"ailee...." I called her name again.

"yeah?.." this time she answered clearly.

"why were you on a fight with kaiji?" I asked he the same question.

"I heard her mocking you...and she was trying to steal my boyfriend...even though It was totally clear that he doesn't like her." she said almost whispering.

"so, what did you do?"

"I thought she needed some punches but I thought I could solve things without violence."

"so wait... Kaiji punched first? and she mocked me?" I asked curiously.

"ne(yes)... she said you were a slut trying to stick to minseok so I slightly grabbed her and yelled at her...then she started punching me."

"and you didnt do anything about it????"

"well, after she threw some punches, I slapped her once so maybe she would stop... but she just punched harder, she had a good punch even for a low-witted girl."I almost laughed on what she said, but I knew that Ailee was serious.

"so that was the truth." someone spoke and that made me stood up.

"Mr. Choi"

"sir, you didn't have to step-in noticeably everytime...." I said sarcastically.

"uh sorry, but thank you miss Ailee for telling the truth" Mr. choi said.

" no problem Mr choi, even though I didn't knew you were there, but is it true sir?" Ailee asked.

"about what?"

"that Yunjae's your niece?" said Ailee..

"Yunjae?" Mr choi said.

"ah, she calls me Yunjae than Hyunjae." I said.

"ah ok... and yes she is my neice but we don't see much of each other since her mother is a distant relative of mine." said Mr choi.

"I see" Ailee said.

"OK girls, I have to go now, get well Soon miss Ailee" Mr choi said.

After that, the principal left and then Ailee turned to me.
