The rain pours down on your trembling body, drenching your slim fitted black dress and making the makeup, most the mascara, you had taken time to put on glide down your ghostly pale cheeks. Despite all your distant family members trying to get your attention, all you can focus on is the coffin set in front of you, almost as if it was mocking you somehow. After hours of just gazing longingly towards your mothers coffin, the rest of the family leave you to grieve with no one to disturb the heavy patters of water hitting the dirt.

Not once had you cried during the whole funeral, giving some of your family the idea that you didn't care for your beloved mother at all. Everything was still trying to catch up. It was like someone had turned off your mind, causing it to be a foggy, cut off mess. It isn't that you didn't care, but you just couldn't believe she had passed away so quickly.

You feel a soft grip on your shoulder and roll your eyes to the side to see your dad trying to comfort you to the best of his ability. His hand was warm, gentle, comforting, yet you couldn't feel the compassion. Clenching your jaw to silence the chattering of your teeth, you shrug off his hand and direct your dull eyes back to the coffin.

"(Y/n), we should both be getting home." He tries to coax, trailing his hand down from your shoulder and to your hand where he gives it a tight, meaningful squeeze.

"I don't want to leave her just yet. Go home, Dad. I'll be okay." You retract your hand from his. It was better to be distant and not feel any emotion at the moment.

He gives a shaky sigh and gives you your requested space. You listen to the sound of his footsteps leaving the cemetery, the noise of a car door closing, the car turning on, and the sound of the vehicle backing out and driving away from the scene. When everything goes back to the sound of pattering rain against the Earth, you break down and start to cry out body wracking sobs. Over the sound of your heart chipping away like a fragile teacup that had been dropped, you fail to notice the pounding footsteps approaching.

As your father had left, he did notice a strange semi truck parked next to his small car. Nobody was inside, nor was anybody outside, so he assumed that it belonged to one of the workers at the cemetery. It was a wonder that you hadn't noticed the Prime, either.

Your knees buckle and you collapse to the ground, clinging your arms around your body like a barrier to keep any other people out. The sobs that kept escaping through your lips come to a gasping halt as the rain that had once pounded down on your perfect skin ceases to harshly beat down. Tilting your head up, you come to the conclusion that the one bot you were trying to avoid was shielding you from the rain with his huge hand. It was a sweet gesture that makes your cheeks flare.

"O-Optimus?" You manage to choke out, eyes wide but filled with vision blocking tears.

"I would ask if you're okay but we both know the answer to that." His deep, silky voice hums.

His bright, baby blue optics caress your body with deepening compassion, a silent way to say he is sorry for your loss without having to say anything. In a moment of weakness, a moment of needing to feel something other than a stinging pain in your chest, you pull yourself up from the ground, stumble to Optimus' kneeled leg, and hug it. A sorrowful smile slips onto his lips.

"Mama meant everything to me. Now she's gone, I don't know what to do, and I can't go on without her," you cry to the leader. "How do I make the pain go away? I-I feel so alone, Optimus."

He gently slides you onto his heated hand, providing you warmth and affection all at the same time. While still shielding your body from the sky's tears, he peers forward and presses his forehead against yours. The dreadful moment before is washed away with intimacy as soon as his lips go from a frown to a cheerful smile. It was like the clouds had parted and cleared a space for sun to shine through. The sun being his smile that rarely ever showed.

He makes you feel somewhat whole again. He is one of the missing pieces to your heart.

"You're never gonna be alone from this moment on. If you ever feel like letting go, I won't let you fall. When all hope is gone, I know that you can carry on. We're gonna see the world out, I'll hold you until the hurt is gone."

You press a hand to your burning cheek, a broken grin searing onto your face as if would never be able to be glued back together. All Optimus does is press a soft kiss to the cheek that isn't covered by your hand.

"And now, as long as I can, I'm holding on with both hands because forever I believe that there's nothing I could need but you."
