That night Peter came over again and we played for a couple hours. He was light years ahead of me in skill but would always wait for me to catch up. He ended staying up for dinner.
We got a call during dinner and my mom got up to answer it.
"If you can learn basic music theory, you know chord structure and stuff, playing the bass will be a lot easier." Peter said slurping up more spaghetti.
"Rex, the call is for you." My mom called from across the house.
It was Vince.
"DUDE! ME AND SARAH WENT ON A DATE TONIGHT!" He explained how they went to see a movie but got kicked out for being too loud. They drove around for a bit and ended up at the music store.
"Rex, they had a totally gnarly keyboard there and I started playing that Halestorm song-"
"I miss the misery?"
"Yeah." He said "and Sarah started singing it! And not like choir singing but like wailing it. This girl has got some pipes. Dude she can sing, I can play keyboard and you can play bass and we can have a totally awesome mini band! Sarah overheard Mr Peterson talking to Mr King about kids doing their work better if they had a way to express themselves, they are gonna do a talent show! "
"What a talent show we totally have to join. Peter can play guitar with us." I responded.
"You mean that Asian we have math with?"
"Yeah. He can shred. He's helped me a lot with bass."
"All we need is a drummer and we would have a TOTALLY GNARBUCKLE band."
The only problem was there was only one person at our high school that could play the drums.
