EPIGRAPH
MIMEOMIA n. the frustration of knowing how easily you fit into a stereotype, even if you never intended to, even if it's unfair, even if everyone else feels the same way—each of us trick-or-treating for money and respect and attention, wearing a safe and predictable costume because we're tired of answering the question, "What are you supposed to be?"

The heart grows brutal from feeding on fantasies.

From which stars have we fallen to meet each other here?

SYNOPSIS
MICHAELA TATE needs a good story. Not in a 'my ego needs it' way, but in a 'my boss needs it or else I'm getting fired because I haven't written a big article in three weeks' way. It also doesn't help how the only stories she ever finds are about particularly talented parrots and new Internet memes, none of which are of any interest to her boss.
Luckily for her, her coworker and occasional coffee buddy, Ginny, needs a partner for her Big Project and agrees to let Michaela work alongside her under the condition she doesn't get too involved (because, let's be honest, we all remember that time she had to be forcefully removed from the scene after threatening to hit someone with her laptop). Ginny's Big Project? An in-depth interview with writer Lincoln Calloway, his first after having disappeared from the public eye for over a year.
Michaela knows she can't get attached. When luck (or, better yet, the lack of it) separates the two girls on the first day of the interview, Michaela knows some things are a lot easier said than done. It's ever harder to do when Lincoln's own big project has everything to, once again, rise through best-selling book lists.
She would know. The book is about her.
