Anxiety says I talk too much.

Says people don't want to hear it.

Says shouting at strangers who are reading your favorite book is still shouting at strangers regardless of excitement.


Depression says I don't talk enough.

Says my voice is only my Italian heritage coming through.

Says it's only trying to be heard over the obvious Irish and that everyone deserves to be heard.


Anxiety says yes.

Says intrusive thoughts do mean you're crazy.

Says sudden realizations of your mortality are, in fact, concerning and that you should probably tell your therapist.


Depression says no.

Says awareness of your mortality will keep you out of harm's way.

Says stuff like this is why staying at home is better.


Intrusive thought says crash the car because, why not?


Anxiety says everyone can tell your hygiene sucks.

Says people can definitely see that pimple on your back.

Says x-ray vision exists.


Depression says four days without a shower is healthy.

Says reverting back to our primitive ways is the most natural of options.

Says why use highlighter when you can have sweat for free?


Anxiety days the left stair rail is evil.

Says it doesn't match the crown molding.

Says it wobbles too much to not be cursed.

Says only touch the right stair rail.


Depression says why use the stairs to begin with?

Says leaving bed is too close to productivity.

Says if all you do is sleep then the left stair rail can't hurt you.


Paranoia says touch the right stair rail just in case.


Anxiety says remember that episode of Cold Case where the teens shot up a food court?

Says remember how you're in a food court?


Depression says remember how you watched the whole season of Cold Case in a day?

Says remember how you imagined what it would be like to be a victim?


OCD says count the exits to be safe.


Anxiety says your family is going to die if you don't have an escape plan every time you enter a room.

Depression says make sure everyone gets out of the room before you.


Anxiety says what if you have a panic attack at your own wedding?

Depression says who could ever love you?


Anxiety says tell your teachers about your triggers so you know when to leave the room.

Depression says forcing yourself to experience triggers isn't self-harm.


Anxiety says you could try getting a service dog!

Depression says living off of ramen does not qualify you for a service dog.


Anxiety says take your meds.

Depression says nothing works.


Anxiety says the thought of eating shouldn't make you sick.

Depression says eating isn't necessary.


Anxiety says survival is necessary!
