Chapter 9:

Lola's P.o.v :

I am shook by what happened. I still can't believe. They were like my parents.
I don't know, how Em managed alone. She had her brothers, but they are too young. I should have been there for her.

Suddenly, I remember something. Jack and John. Where are they? I didn't see them. Ohh come on Lola, they must be asleep.

"Em, can I ask you something?" I am not sure, if I should ask this.
I can see she's a bit surprised, " What's gotten into you? Where is my best friend? She never asked me such a stupid question,"
I am looking at her, with a blank face. She didn't say yes yet.

After a few seconds, she blurts, "Oh, come on now Lol. Ask away. The ship has already sailed." Such a weirdo.
"Look, I know you probably don't wanna be asked such questions, at this very moment. But I wanted to know, if Jack and John were okay," I say in a low voice.
She does not answer. I am waiting for her to register my question. Still nothing.

I speak again, "What is the matter? How come you are so quiet? Em, is there anything you are not telling me?"
Breaking the silence, after few minutes, she starts, "I don't know, Lol. They don't know yet. I didn't have the courage to do so. When I saw them in the hospital all bruised up, my heart sank. I just couldn't do it."
I am shocked by what she said. "Em? I am so sorry, you had to do all this alone. I am sorry I wasn't there for you. But, they have to know someday. You know this, right?"
"I know, I have to tell them sooner or later. But not right now." I can see tears forming in her eyes.

I hug her. "It's going to be fine. I am here. But wait a second. What did you tell them? Obviously your parents aren't home. Didn't Jack ask anything?"
"He did. I told them, they are out as they had work. They'll be home in a few weeks. Its been 3 weeks, since I said this to them."
"You can't keep this to yourself. It's been 3 weeks, Em. They have to know. It'll hurt. I know. But they have the right to know."
She hugs me tightly. "I'll tell them at the end of this week. But you have to be there, when I do this. I can't do this alone. Please."
Giving a quick peck on her forehead, I say, "Always."

Emily's P.o.v :

I love her soo damn much. I know she meant it, when she said, "Always."
She is right. I have to tell them. It's high time.

6 a.m.

"Emily April Hale, wake up you sleepy ass. We are going to be late." I hear someone shouting.
After a few minutes, after I ignored her, "Em, Emyyy, Emilyyayy!! This is the last warning."
Warning, huh. I didn't quite register that until...
"You deserve this." She is jumping on me. How old is she for doing this? 8 ?
"Okay, fine. I'm up. Why are you so childish," I am so frustrated. I can never understand this girl. Someday, she is so mature, handling stuffs for me and other days, this, jumping on me to wake me up.
I am definitely not a morning person. I don't understand, why schools don't start late. Why do they have to torture us ?

I get ready in 10 minutes. I didn't take a bath, obviously. Just wash my face. No no, I won't stink. Don't worry. Perfume's at the rescue.

I get downstairs to make something for all of us. But the view is quite pleasant. I don't know, if this is a dream. But boy, is this so beautiful. I can see everyone having breakfast. Did she make it?
"Morning, you guys," I greet all of them with a smile.
As Jack starts to say something, I give him a stare and he swallow back to what he was going to say.
"Ohh, look who is here finally. Thank you so much for your presence, dearie. Come have something ," Lol speaks this time.
Giving a smile, I say, "My pleasure."
