"What are you?" I stood infront of him.
"What are you?" With one eyebrow raised from him. He practically kept that annoying smile. "You know, your spell could be gone *looks on his watch* about after two minutes, Miss Devindane."
"Is that so, Mr. Foxes? Well, I'm sorry for making runes on my table and ruining school property. But this spell finishes after 30 minutes." I've made a smile on my lips, wanting to irritate him. He looked over my table and saw the glowing runes that I've made.
"Clever move. I didn't know you make runes. I thought you only cast spells. I presumed you are not claimed yet? Hmm, Let me guess you have 99 days left?" That annoying smile.
"I like the way you think. Let me guess, you're a Thinker? Aren't you? I thought thinkers were only chosen properly after some kind of test given by the Lords. You passed the test? That is so amazing." I kept my annoying voice still and annoying though, to keep him annoyed.
"Yes, I am Thinker. Thank you for the compliment. I would want to say that my father is a thinker too. And actually, he is one of the Lords." I kept my face straight for him to see that I am not shocked.
"So you're one of the princes? And what is a prince doing in this town? Living a life of a normal being?" I said in a reply.
"And what does a Devindane have to do with that?" Raising his head high. "I think you might want to deal with your runes right now, it's losing its light."
I walked back to my seat and waited for the time to run again.
*****
It was a good thing that it was only a half day class. By lunch, I walked straight home. Upon walking on the street, I saw the same little girl from before. She was carrying the doll I gave to her. I knelt down inorder to see her in her level.
"Hey? You remember me little girl?" I smiled.
"Yeah, yeah! You gave me her! *Letting me see the doll*" I smiled bigger.
"By the way, what is your name?"
"My name is,
She didn't finish her words. She was caught up in a whirling tentacles of darkness. I fell back in shock. I thought, I needed to save her. I knelt again and followed the paths with my hands of the "darkness tentacles" that are trying to surround her. And with my left hand, I scribbled the rune symbol for "light" on the air leveling her head. It gave so much light that the darkness left her. I stood up and collected the darkness in my hands and clasped it, then I slipped my hands causing the collected darkness to split in half. Then it was gone.
The little girl fell on the ground. The sky turned blue again. Then I saw the sun. I carried the little girl in the nearby tree and laid her there. I wrote the rune symbol for "light" again leveling her head. "With this, darkness can't creep up on you again, sweetie." I kissed her forehead. I left her there and walked away.
"I'm home Aunt."
"Goodness. I had bad vibes about you coming home, sugar." She held me tightly.
"Well, hell yeah, I encountered something tough just awhile ago Aunt." I said.
"Seriously? What happened sugar?"
"Well, there was this little girl that I found on the way walking to school on a monday. She was crying, because she lost her doll. So I gave her another. Then just today, I saw her again. Well, she was caught up with the darkness. So kinda helped her. Then it was okay Aunt." I said while she gave me a glass of water.
"That's just awful. Did anyone see you?"
"No, I didn't notice anyone." I said, picking up the glass and drinking some water.
Aunt sat on a chair infront of me. She was totally staring at me.
"What?" I said.
"You met a Thinker. Did you?"
"Well, I met one. And, God! Was he so annoying? Saying everything he knew. Oh, and he's one of the sons of a Lord." I said, while looking at Aunt's eye.
"Thinkers are very powerful, Ingrid. Remember that. Even though, you're a supernatural being, your mom was half a Thinker. So you have a blood of a thinker, sugar." Aunt explained.
I looked confused. What?
"Wait, I have a blood of a thinker?" I questioned. "What do you know more Aunt? That I am supposed to know? Say it! Say it!" I stood up.
"I'm sorry sugar, I'm not supposed to say much." She replied.
I calmed myself down. I sat again and waited for Aunt to say more.
"Aunt, I have 99 days left before my claiming. By those days, can I learn more? I want to know more. I need to know more. Please. You are the only one I could count to."
"Take a rest. And when you are okay. I'll tell you what I know. Okay sugar?"
I nodded. I rushed upto my room. I opened my door. I took off my doll shoes and my jacket. I walked up to my window and stared on the ground and up in the sky. I stood up and walked to my bed. I laid down and covered myself with my blanket. I closed my eyes and drifted away.
While sleeping, I had this vision. It was mom, sleeping. On a bed. On a beautiful bed. With flowers. Her favorite roses were all around. 'What is this?' I thought.
"Finally, it reached you." Said a guy's voice. But I can't see his face.
"Reached me? Reached what?" I replied. But he didn't respond to me.
"What do you want?" Said a familiar voice. But why can't I see their faces? It was only mom who I could see. All I could do was stare at the two guys. They were arguing. But I can't hear them anymore. Until I noticed that darkness got me. It surrounded me. It tightened on me more, causing me to fall on the floor. I watched mom being swallowed by darkness. But, I couldn't do anything. I was powerless. I shouted, "Mom! Mom! Wake up! Its Ingrid! Mom!"
She was gone.
