Chapter 12: Awake and Alive

I look down at the water and am ready to hit it when...

That's when my eyes finally open. My vision was so blurry so I kept blinking really hard. My vision finally clears and i see the white ceiling. Oh ya, I'm in a hospital. I try to breath in but somethings blocking my airway. I start to cough and out of the corner of my eye I see Adrian's head shoot up. He sees im coughing and presses the nurse button.

"Beya!!" he yells. I think Ezie heard him yell because I see her jump out of Ben's lap and runs to me. The nurse comes in and sees me.

"Oh good, you're awake. Here let me get that." she says and takes the tube out of my throat. I breath in and out and the nurse gives me a cup of water. "Thank you" I say my voice raspy and my throat extremely dry. I chug the water down in like 2 seconds. I sit up and see that Adrian, Ezie, Ben, Chris, and Vic were here next to my bed, staring at me with watery eyes.

"Hi guys?" I say kinda awkwardly since I'm in the spotlight.

"Beya!" Adrian yells again and pulls me into an embrace. After a minute or so everyone joins in and they give me a big group hug.

"Guys. You guys are squishing me!" i say.

"Oh sorry." They all say and back away.

"We just missed you so much!" Vic yelled. Adrian grabs my hand and I turn to look at him. This time I actually see what he looks like. Wow he looks awful. His skin is like a light green, he has large bags under his eyes, he looks really thin, his hair is very oily like he hasn't showered in a while, and his teeth are kinda yellow as well. What happened to him??

"How long was I out?" I ask no one in particular.

"Almost a month. Yesterday the doctor actually told us that if you didn't wake up within a week, they were gonna take you off life support." Ezie said her voice cracking as she started crying. Ben pulls her into a hug and just held her.

"Dang..Sorry guys..." i say feeling guilty and just messing with my hands.

An awkward silence came over us and it seemed like it was never going to end. "Umm guys?" i ask almost in a whisper.

"Yeah?" Vic asks.

"Umm..why did I fall into a coma?"

I look up and I see Chris looking anywhere else besides me. "Chris?"

He just looks at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"Well... umm..*clears throat* well we were on the beach..just talking..then you seemed tense so I asked if you were scared...then you just like blew up in tears saying you were terrified of him..."

"Beya...who is he talking about?" Vic asks. I open my mouth but then I start thinking if I should tell them now.

Knock knock knock

The doctor walks in, "oh good you're awake. Let me just take these out of you." he says while taking out all of the wires that were injected into my skin. He finally takes them all out. "Well Ms. Nicole, you will be released tomorrow. And I'm going to give you a prescription for your anxiety disorder. It should keep it under control." he says starting to walk out of the room. Right as he's about to open the door, he stops and turns around. "Oh and you have another visitor." he says then leaves.

Another visitor? Everyone I pretty much know is already here. I look around and see that everyone in the room is all sharing the same questioning look. Right then the door opened and we all turned around. My eyes almost shot out of my eye sockets when I saw who walked through the door. The two people I hoped to never see again walked into my hospital bedroom. Why are they here...
