Chapter 22-A Plan

"Ms.Kim, you do understand that time is critical here? The man might have killed someone else!"

Mr.Ryu scolds me like a father to his daughter when she spills milk on the carpet. Only there's no spilled milk. Just a killer on the loose.

I accept the harsh comments from Mr.Ryu. I don't want to lose my job.

Is it really worth all this trouble? Just to keep Taehyung "safe"?

As the lecture continues, I have no choice but to continue nodding and agreeing with whatever the man says.

"Hey. Tell me about that man you met."

I look up at Mr.Ryu.

"Who?" I can feel cold sweat start to form on the back of my neck.

"You know, the one you said you thought could be the killer, but didn't have enough information to confirm. When you first started this mission."

I completely forgot that I had mentioned Taehyung in the beginning. I immediately regret it.

I think hard. Do I tell him?

I would be betraying Taehyung. I feel like running away. Away from Mr.Ryu, away from the building. Away from everything.

If only it were that easy.

I take a breath.

"He's 23 years old. And he has a basement full of firearms."

Mr.Ryu nods as I continue to tell him practically everything I know about the boy who lives in the alley.

"His favourite colour is black." I say.

He chuckles.

"Of course he does."

"He also goes by the code name or nick name V."

"Why V? Does it mean something?"

"I don't know." I mutter.

"And he told you his real name?"

I guess so, I reply. I remember the day where he gave me the letter and talked to me at the table in the kitchen.

He told me I should feel lucky.

That no one but I, knows his real name.

"Hey. Kim, earth to Kim. Wake up."

I snap back to the present to see my frustrated boss snapping his fingers in front of me. I apologize quickly.

We continue discussing possible ways to capture and take Taehyung in.

"Why don't you go visit him?"

"What?"

"You're relatively close right? So you can go say hi, keep him calm, and say that you need to take him somewhere. You take him to your car and drive to the police station. We cuff him and we're done."
