"How rude"

It had been another week since Ren had hung out with David, but tonight they were al headed to Vegas for his 21st birthday. Ren had found a friend to look after Toothless for the night so she didn't have to worry about him. Not surprisingly, David had texted her everyday this week and they talked nonstop. As they were currently talking, she was getting ready to leave. Ren had come out of her shell so much recently. She had even become close to Scotty and Kristen, who she was riding to Vegas with.

To David
I'm about to leave my house so I'll see you soon!

From David
Yay! I'm so excited! Tonight is gonna be awesome. Also, we paid a little extra so you could drink with us tonight since your only 20.

Ren chuckled. Of course you would pay for me to do illegal things. Ren got in her car and drive to where she was meeting everyone. When she arrived, she saw that everyone was already there and she was, of course, late.

Walking inside Ren was attacked with a hug. "Yay best friend you're here."

"I enjoy your greetings Scotty," Ren said laughing.

"I like how I've just been completely replaced"

David. No one could ever replace you. Not even if they tried.

Ren went to hug him and gave him a whispered 'happy birthday'.

"I'm so glad you came. It really does mean a lot to me. You have no idea." She released him slowly looking around for her other friends. She saw Kristen and immediately went to greet her.

"Kwisten I missed yew."

Hugging Ren, Kristen agreed and went in to talk about how excited she was to be spending the car ride with her. Once again though, Ren wasn't listening. Out of the corner of her eye she saw David and Liza. Being all cute and couple-y. As if he sensed her looking at him, David turned and looked at her. She must have had some kind of look on her face because he looked at her confused before looking back to Liza and walking over to her. She felt someone shake her shoulder and she looked back at Kristen.

"You have absolutely no idea what I said. Where did you go just now?"

As she was about to answer, David came up. "Ren can I talk to you?"

She nodded and walked away from Kristen giving her an 'I'll tell you later look'. She followed David into the kitchen where there was surprisingly no one.

"Why were you looking at me like that?" He asked

"Like what?"

"Like your whole world was falling apart."

Because it is. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just feeling a little anxious. There's a lot of people I don't know here."

He hugged her again. "I thought so. That's why I had to come over and talk to you. If ever at any point you feel anxious tonight, come find me. It doesn't matter what I'm doing or who I'm with. You're a priority for me tonight."

"So I'm not a priority every night? How rude."

They both laughed and left the kitchen. Luckily he believed her. There was a lot of people Ren didn't know here but with the company of Scotty and Kristen she didn't really notice. The only thing she noticed was David, being completely in love with Liza.

The drive to Vegas was pretty uneventful. Scotty was filming, Kristen was driving, and Ren was sitting in the back seat being crazy with them. It felt good to let go and be completely crazy for once. After about an hour, Kristen turned the music down and Scotty turned off the camera.

"About earlier," Kristen started, "what was that?"

Ren shrugged. "What was what?"

"The complete zone out you had. The look you were giving David. What was that?"

Ren paused. She knew she could trust them. Even though she hadn't known them long they were more her family than her parents were. "I saw him being all couple-y with Liza. I don't know, for some reason it bothered me. Not like a 'I want that' bothered me but a different kind. One I haven't felt before."

Kristen and Scotty shared a look before they both smiled at her. "You like him." Scotty said. "Like really really really like him. What are you going to do about it?"

"What? Nothing. I'm going to do nothing about it. I've known him for 3 weeks. I'm not in love with him or anything. And plus he's got Liza. They're good together. They're perfect. They're-"

"Having issues." Kristen said. "No one said you had to tell the boy you're in love with him. Just make it more obvious. You need to get out there. And plus, we've seen the way he looks at you."

"Yeah," Scotty agrees.

"I feel like you guys are supposed to be rooting for Liza since you've known her longer. You shouldn't encourage someone to just try and take her place."

Scotty laughed. "Were rooting for love, Ren. Love always wins. And if it just so happens they break up and you get together, so what? Love is love and that's all that matters."

Ren nodded. "Turn up the music. I want to drown my worries."

Kristen nodded. "Before I do that, just think about this. Tonight is the perfect night. David will be really drunk, he won't remember a thing. So you tell him tonight, you get his unfiltered reaction, no one knows in the morning."

Soon the radio was blasting again and Scotty was recording again. This time though, Ren just sat there, completely lost in thought. They soon got to Vegas, or at least what felt like soon to Ren. They climbed out and she took it all in. Some of the best friends she's ever made she's known for 3 weeks. How unusual was that?
