Ryan yawned and ruffled his hair, walking over to the sink and splashing water onto his face as he held his forehead. "Bastard..." He grabbed one of the glasses, filling it with water and walking to the window, taking a sip and watching the sun rise. He suddenly paused, looking behind him. He could've sworn he heard something. Sure enough, there was... some sort of creature asleep on the couch. He raised an eyebrow and put the glass down, walking over to examine it. "What in the Hell...?" He picked up the creature's arm and dropped it again, watching it flop back down. Poking it brought no reaction. He turned to look at the hallway behind him and yelled out. "Bri?" Within seconds, the girl walked down, yawning as she played with her hair.
"Mm?" The second she walked close to him, he grabbed her waist and pulled her to his side. "What's..." She yawned. "Wrong?"
"What is that?" He asked, pointing at the creature. She simply laughed.
"That's a child, idiot."
"I didn't know we had a kid. I mean, I don't remember having s-" She stopped him by placing her hand over his mouth.
"You were drunk last night. You wouldn't remember even if we did." He tilted his head.
"So did we? I knew my offspring would develop faster than mortals, but..." She pushed his head away, looking annoyed.
"We didn't do it, estúpido." He laughed, raising his hands.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." Hypatia's eyes suddenly fluttered open. She immediately used her arms to cover the light hitting her eyes. Bri smiled and walked over to her."Did you sleep well?" I nodded, looking at the girl in front of me. She smiled, rubbing my hair.
"So, how long is that... thing going to stay here?" The man asked, looking at me. I felt a little uneasy when his eyes met mine. He was kind of scary.
"However long she needs." The girl replied, giving him a side glance. He groaned.
"I'm gonna need another bottle." She just sighed.
"Where'd you get the money to pay for the drink, anyway? We're on a tight budget as it is." The man jumped up on the bench and lent against the wall. Mum always tells me off for sitting on the furniture. He reached into one of the draws and pulled out a bag, throwing it up in the air and catching it again. The bag jingled.
"Stole it." The girl sighed.
"Ryan." So that was his name. Ryan shrugged as he continued to fiddle with the bag.
"Hey, if he's the one causing us the stress, he can also be the one to pay for the shit that temporarily gets rid of it."
"Ryan, not in front of the kid!" Bri sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. She didn't look too happy. "In case you haven't noticed, we're trying to lay low. That means we refrain from stealing, especially from the man we're hiding from." Are they playing Hide and Seek? I love that game! Dad and I play it all the time! "Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I still stay here. I've already got a one-way ticket to Hell because of you." She folded her arms and turned away. Bri looked quite cross. Ryan looked sad for a moment. He suddenly lept down from the bench, his boots making a loud thud when they hit the floor. He began walking towards her. It was scary. Her eyes went big as she stepped back a little.
"R-Ryan...? What are you doing...?" She hit the wall behind her. "T-this isn't funny! Stop it!" The girl looked very scared. Ryan put both of his arms on either side of her, trapping her against the wall with his much larger frame. From here, I could see how tall he was beside her. She was like a cute little ant. "Ryan, stop! Or I-" She couldn't talk anymore because Ryan had decided to kiss her. After a few seconds, he pulled away and smiled.
"Do you choose to stay because you're afraid of him? Or... is it because you're afraid of losing me?"
"Bleh." I complained, poking out my tongue. He looked at me as if he just remembered I was still here. "Yucky." I complained again. He laughed a little, turning back to the girl. She suddenly slapped him so hard, his head was thrown back.
"Ow..." He groaned, rubbing his red cheek.
"Don't do that to me! I thought Norgyad-" His eyes softened.
"... I didn't mean to scare you." She bit her lip and turned away. "Hey, come on..." He tried to look her in the eye, but she looked away every time he got close. He quickly got tired of it and grabbed her head back to face him. "Bri, look at me..." Bri sighed and slowly looked up at him, her face both annoyed and sad. "Norgyad's gone, alright? You don't have to worry about him coming back." She forced a smile.
"Is Norgyad the man you're playing Hide and Seek with?" I asked, curious. Bri quickly walked away from Ryan and towards me, ruffling my hair.
"No, sweetie. We're trying to stay away from a very bad man much worse than Norgyad."
"Who?"
"Let's just say... someone so full of desire and deceit, he's got the entire Empire fooled."
